ME3 is the national airline for Indians indeed. One stop to anywhere in Europe, USA, even Australia.
Air India doesn' t have a good reputation among locals and Jet Airways has failed.

SQ' s Vistara is doing very well now and they charge $1000 for 2 hour shuttle flights domestically as essentially they are the last reputable airline standing for senior management travel.
They don' t have widebody yet. It' s coming but still I think it will quite a tough fight against the ME3. They have the scale and the frequent flyer base. Even originally Vistara was struggling to capture Jet Airways frequent flyers.

The lucrative market of flying passengers between the South Asian nation and Western Europe, Japan or beyond is now dominated by Etihad and Emirates, which connect through their hubs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, accounting for about a fifth of total traffic. With  Jet Airways India Ltd. shutting down last year after failing to compete with the likes of  InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.&rsquo s IndiGo, only state-run  Air India Ltd. and Vistara have widebody aircraft in their fleets which can fly non-stop to western Europe and the U.S.

The coronavirus outbreak is unexpectedly providing an opportunity to  Singapore Airlines Ltd. to grab a share of the lucrative Indian market held by rivals  Emirates Airline and  Etihad Airways PJSC through a local affiliate.

There will be an increase in the number of people who want to travel direct, say, from India to Europe, because they don&rsquo t want to transit through another hub that increases travel time, that increases exposure, Kannan said this week. There  is actually a silver lining for us&rdquo both in terms of business travelers and people flying to visit their friends and relatives, he said.

The advantage for Singapore Airlines will come from the fact that India doesn &rsquo t allow foreign airlines to directly fly passengers to a third country. That is where its local affiliate will step in, providing non-stop connections overseas and luring passengers away from Emirates and Etihad.

Actually SQ Business Class prices have come down a lot in the last 3 years. Used to be 3x Economy, now about 2x the economy flexi you can get, sometimes even less than double the flexi economy.
And from outside Singapore, better still. Out of Vietnam and India best. Saw a S$3000 fare from India to New York via Singapore round trip.

Only for Singaporeans, they charge high price for business class. Terrible, right, haha.

Actually business class seats if ticket cost can be brought down    then it can attract back the old crowds

Once the seats start filling in.. SQ can slowly raise back the price

Actually you are so wrong

Look at other world top airlines Emirates or Etihad...

Emirates is a state-owned flag carrier airline based in Garhoud, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The airline is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which is owned by the government of Dubai' s Investment Corporation of Dubai.

While Etihad is owned by the government of abu dhabi

I have no shares or interest in SIA but I came to write as I am appalled at the waste of public money lavish on SIA,  Govmt backed airline seldom can compete internationally.  Just look at all the eggs contract given to SIA.to fly in from oversea.  Just to give them business,  public ended up with 250,000 eggs surplus which has to be destroyed .
World wide all airlines are bunker down and cutting cost,  like bears going into hibernation to wait out this long winter.  conserve cash for the summer.
What is SIA doing with public money??  Like a wife who is given a credit card with no spend limit.  this wife shopping spree will seldoms include good investments.

It' s alway more on the sentimental rather than fundamental in trading stocks. Technically if we are always following the flow, one or twice wrong moves, profits can be wipe out completely

Just like we need to be right everytime if we visit Casino daily, they just need to be right one or twice time to KO us (if we are not discipline enough to cut loss when necessary)

This is my view too. Leisure travel will be back 100% and more after some time. No telecommute can replace holidays and family visiting.
But there is a portion of business traffic that will not come back and their planes with half the area used for premium classes may have to be reviewed. I already know i used to travel monthly for business, now when things settle down, it will be quarterly at most.
The business model needs to be revisited. May be less Business Class but more Premium Economy.

SQ' s future:
I believe SQ has a strong brand and it is Singapore' s critical national asset that should be saved at all costs. it will not fail.
And other airlines will start failing keeping the market less competitive and prices might rise and this would help the remaining survivors.
In Southeast Asia, i believe SQ is now last reigning king. TG likely will downsize and pull out many routes just like MH and GA did when they were in crisis. This is SQ' s opportunity to capture wealthy Thais to be their customer base on top of the Indonesians and Bruneians they already have. This group can fill up the business class cabins to some extent.
The ME Trio EK, EY, and QR are still threats. I wonder if any one of them will fail but then knowing the megalomaniac attitutude of the rulers, they probably will be kept at all cost. But I think there is not enough room for 3. EY will fail first possibly.

Now 2nd waves concern. Then it will go up on rumor vaccine. But the fact is, air travel will not be same again. Biz trips will be cut. It will be a norm to hold biz meetings via telecommute. No need for travel. People will travel for holidays but how many will pay biz class?

Just feel that legally they (stock analysts) might not be wrong but ethically they are NOT right!

On a personal note and based on both fundamental & sentimental, still don' t feel it' s a good time to pick up the counter now.
Even though I had sold off my SIA stock at $4.18 two-three weeks ago.

Just my 2 cents

Never trust all these stock analysts!!!
1. I always believe there are conflict of interests for most, if not all their recommendations/information
2. If they are so accurate, they will be busy counting $$$ at home rather than posting all those " stupid" data
