I keep on thinking it' s connected to UE somehow.  Don know.      I said the same thing earlier on, it' s been bugging me.      That' s why I cautioned ppl trying to short the stock.      You could lose if you are slow in shorting when the price came back up.

ThaiBev price gapped down 4cents from 76.5 to 72.5cents, then it went back up to 76.5 and closed at 75.5 on 2nd Nov.      Only lost 1 cent after all the supposed shorting.

Past days, dojis at 74.5cents.

Price held up quite well in spite of the negative news.

Why is this so?

& N, ThaiBev shares fall on expected loss of Myanmar Brewery stakeChannel NewsAsia 03 Nov 2014

Myanmar Economic Holdings (MEHL), said last Friday. Arbitrators in Singapore had affirmed MEHL' s rights to buy over F& N' s 55% stake in Myanmar Brewery. MEHL' s rights to buy over F& N' s 55% stake in Myanmar Brewery at fair value as at a date close to Apr 24, 2013. MEHL owns the other 45%.

Beverage giant Fraser and Neave (F& N) fell on Monday (Nov 3) morning after it lost a legal bid to prevent the buyout of its 55% stake in fast-growing Myanmar Brewery

Valuation of F& N' s stake in Myanmar Brewery, the brewer of Myanmar Beer, will be decided by a valuer to be appointed by both parties.

At around 9.40am, F& N shares were down 4.8% at S$3. Shares of Thai Beverage, F& N' s largest shareholder, were down 3.9% to 73.5 Singapore cents.

Motley Fool, a share investment website, said that in light of the tribunal' s judgment, F& N will likely lose a powerful growth engine.

MEHL entered into joint venture with Heineken through its Asian arm, Asia Pacific Breweries Limited (APB), in 1995 to set up Myanmar Brewery. Under agreement, MEHL held 45% of Myanmar Brewery' s shareholding and APB, the remaining 55%. APB transferred its shareholding to F& N in 1997.

Heineken has since taken full control of APB by buying out F& N and other minority shareholders, while F& N has been taken over by a firm controlled by Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi.

On Apr 24, 2013, MEHL exercised its rights under the joint-venture agreement to serve notice on F& N to sell its stake to MEHL or its nominee. It served notice of arbitration on Sept 9, 2013.

Myanmar Brewery has seen profit growth of more than 40% in recent quarters.

Myanmar conglomerate says it has won beer spat with Singapore' s F& N

Source: TheEdge Markets     |     Publish date: Fri, 31 Oct 21:33     |     > > Read article in News website

SINGAPORE (Oct 31): A military-linked Myanmar conglomerate said it has won an arbitration case against Singapore' s Fraser and Neave that will give it the right to buy the latter' s stake in Myanmar' s biggest brewery.

Myanma Economic Holdings Limited (MEHL) said in a statement on Friday that a panel of two unnamed Singapore arbitrators heard the case in the city state from late June to early July.

MEHL said the panel released a ruling earlier on Friday which says MEHL is entitled to buy F& N' s shares in Myanmar Brewery.

The BBs already laid the trap for Monday gap down. Good luck.

Wonder what kept the price of ThaiBev up so high and for so long.    Somemore, a day ago, on 30th there was a long white candle with volume indicating buyers flooded in to push the price up.

The loss of the Myanmar mkt would be negative.        Question is why was there a runup just before the suspension?

Is there something else not known?

But do agree to go cautious on this stock given the bad news is released and made known.

My IG insight gives only 15% shorting, 85% having long positions on Thai Bev.    CMC is 100% clients long on Thai Bev.

These are the two CFD providers  I use.
