somethig good is brewing else price wont be suppressed.   If it is bad news funds will push it up to sell, the opposite.

I have been trading raffles between 1.37 and 1.41 range. Made few rounds. Don' t forget every 100 Lots will yield few k.. let it drop 1-2 more sessions. Could be something good brewing before they push up (   if bad news than will go up for funds to release first)

This one is not good for shorting either. The fluctuations in its share prices are very minimal. Based on Reuters, Raffles Medical' s historical beta is about 0.48. This means the range of fluctuation in its share prices is about half as volatile as our STI ETF index. This is a slow moving stock, but it is a growth stock in terms of its business and financial performances so far having double digits growths in its revenues and operating incomes for most years.

This is not for the impatient investor or speculator as it will definitely take at least a few years to see the rewards of one' s investment. One may not expect anything much within a year as I have shown from the many periods of its historical long waiting times of close to a year and more that prices never moved much.

If one desires more exciting price actions, can try playing penny stocks. But do be careful as playing penny stocks also need to do homework to identify which penny stocks will run higher and which will be under selling pressure as there are indicators to suggest interested hidden buying and interested hidden selling. It is not that easy to make money from penny stocks and many speculators got burnt as they are always one step or many steps slower. They only chase after the penny stock has already risen. And they only sell after the penny stock has already dropped in price. As such, many speculators are at the losing end of the trade.

One should already have entered the penny stock before it runs and not after it started running higher. Conversely, one should have short sell before the penny stock started to drop in price and not when it already dropped in price. One step or many steps slower than the price actions always got many speculators burnt. As to how to identify signs on which penny stocks will run and which will drop before they do so, it is their trade secret for those successful speculators of penny stocks.

If we examine the historical traded prices for Raffles Medical Group, there were many long periods of close to one year or even more than one year whereby its share prices did not move much. I attached the following historical data on the long periods in its history of stagnant traded prices.

Start of period traded price to end of period traded price

Jun 2002 to May 2003 (11 months):                     $0.31 to $0.32

Jul 2003 to Sep 2004 (1 year 2 months):             $0.40 to $0.42

Dec 2010 to Aug 2012 (1 year 8 months):             $2.28 to $2.38

Feb 2013 to Apr 2014 (1 year 2 months):             $3.21 to $3.31

Jun 2014 to May 2015 (11 months):                     $4.05 to $4.00

From the above historical data, there were certainly many long periods which tested the patience of investors. However, the share prices do not remain stagnant for too long as this is a growth stock. The longest wait so far was only under 2 years of waiting without much changes in the share prices at the start of the period to end of the period in question. Many people would have given up waiting for 6 months to see prices still never moved much. Not to talk about even a year and more. But I am sure there are those rare few (and I mean only rare few) who have stayed the course and invested from 17 years ago. And those rare few would have added their positions along the way upon smaller market corrections, and even added more during the sub-prime crisis when prices corrected to dirt cheap valuations. So, they would have benefitted the most from the growth in the share price which has multiplied their investments at least 10X or more (if they had also added to their positions during every market corrections and sub-prime bear market) in a period of 17 years.

And after every long waiting periods, when the prices finally run up, it really runs up quite fast in a few months to reach another new higher level. A rewarding stock need not be an exciting one. As long as it is able to make good predictable and reasonable returns from the market at the end of the day given a reasonable time period. there is no need to participate in exciting price actions. The only thing I love about exciting price actions is to study the interesting market behaviour of market participants behind exciting price actions.

http://www.fool.sg/2017/03/30/we-are-our-worst-investing-enemies/

This is a recent article by Motley Fool which wrote that we are our worst enemies when it comes to investing. Raffles Medical Group was featured in the article which says that its share price has increased by an impressive 887% over the period of just 9 years from year 2005 to 2014. I also shared much earlier that over a period of approximately 17 years from year 1999 to 2016 just before its stock split, its share price has multiplied by around 10X. A $100k investment back in year 1999 would have made a person become a millionaire just last year.

But, within each of the years as shared by the article from 2005 to 2014, the decline in share price for this stock each year could go up to around 10% as prices fluctuate in each year and during year 2008 the share price tanked by up to 63%. So, doing nothing but just buy-and-hold over a period of 17 years would make a shareholder of Raffles Medical Group multiplied his investment in the healthcare company 10X when he did not panic sell his shares during the sub-prime crisis in 2008.

But, it is even better if the shareholder continued to add positions during those market dips when the shares dropped by around 10% each year and especially during sub-prime crisis facing the largest 63% drop in share price. I think by 2016, the shareholder will not only have multiplied his investments in Raffles Medical Group by 10X when he just held on to it and did nothing, but he would have multiplied his investment in Raffles Medical Group by more than 10X over a period of 17 years with every building up of his positions in the healthcare company during those cheap prices.

This was the growth of this healthcare group over the past 17 years. Will it repeat its former growth going forward? Let' s watch its future.

But in conclusion, remember that during the next bear market, do ' think' (use the brains and not the emotions) carefully before one decides to panic sell. History has already proven many times that only those with good judgment and guts will make the most profits when he/ she capitalises on such rare opportunities as a bear market to buy undervalued shares/ assets of fundamentally good economics.
