Till now then I realized my reply to you was not up on Tuesday.
Yes! You are right on pointing out on the rebalancing. But again, the announcement was also made the night before on extending the application of IPO. Hence a pure coincidence?
Operator are definitely in the loop on the company goings prior to announcement.

So shares held by passive exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds, replicating MSCI's indexes, will have to sell or buy to mimic the index.

As Hong Leong Asia is included in the MSCI Singapore Small Cap Index, the index did a quarterly rebalance yesterday (31 Aug 2026).

HLA (H22): What Really Happened in Today' s Closing Auction?
For fellow retail shareholders, especially those affected by today' s decline, I think it is useful to separate facts from speculation.
HLA closed today, 31 August, at S$2.93, down about 6.1% from Friday' s S$3.12. The Time & Sales data I observed showed approximately 1,337,900 shares matched at S$2.93 during the closing auction &mdash certainly a sizeable transaction deserving attention.
What does it prove?
✅ Significant sell-side/order imbalance &mdash YES
✅ 1.3379m shares matched at S$2.93 &mdash YES
❌ Insider/director dumping &mdash NOT proven
❌ HK/China shareholders dumping &mdash NOT proven
A large institutional or nominee account could potentially be involved, but the Time & Sales data does not identify the ultimate seller. We should therefore avoid jumping to conclusions until SGX disclosures provide further evidence.
One important point when assessing the percentages: HLA completed a S$145m placement of 50m new shares at S$2.90 in May 2026. Therefore, the enlarged share base should be used when calculating the 1.3379m shares as a percentage of HLA.
Today' s fall also does not, by itself, invalidate HLA' s underlying investment thesis. The China Yuchai/genset business and proposed Hong Kong listing remain important potential value-unlocking catalysts.
What I would watch next:
&bull Any director/CEO or substantial-shareholder disclosure
&bull Whether heavy selling continues
&bull Whether S$2.93 holds as support
&bull Trading volume over the next few sessions
&bull Progress of the proposed HK listing
&bull Future earnings and cash flow
My conclusion:
Large auction selling &mdash YES. Seller identified &mdash NO. Insider dumping &mdash NOT established. Worth monitoring closely &mdash DEFINITELY.
I am also affected by today' s decline, so this is an attempt to understand the unusual price action objectively, not investment advice. DYODD.

Seems this case is legit. An extension required for the application because of this incident.
No wonder, insiders threw just after 5pm.

$2.90 taken out. Now. $2.92. Short sellers got shot.
If one noticed that during the NDR, income ceiling has risen hence more HDB is required and with the recent saga, Maju and Gillman to have new HDB. It also means more sales revenue for HLA.

These manipulators if they wish to, can bring HLA to $5 within 2 weeks.

I am long on HLA, have been for many years.
As long as HLA performs,    I  don' t really care what the manipulators or shortists do.
I think if HLA continues along the current path, a re-rating is likely.
I will not sell my holding below $4.

Now the manipulators have decided to swing the yoyo upwards.
No reason for it to have dropped so much so fast when the TPs are being increased after very good results.  Just look at the chart and it is obvious this is a manipulated stock.

Back to $2.97. Shiok.

If all the catalysts come into play and HLA continues its current
performance, re-rating is a matter of time.
Its current perceived fair value will have to be re-assessed.
