Keppel secures US$70 million worth of contracts to provide &lsquo energy-as-a-service&rsquo in Vietnam

KEPPEL : BN4 +0.31% on Monday (Jul 10) announced that it has secured US$70 million worth of contracts to provide long-term and recurring &ldquo energy-as-a-service&rdquo (EaaS) in Vietnam.

Keppel&rsquo s EaaS enables businesses and building owners to enter a supply-and-service contract for energy usage and management without making significant upfront capital investments.

Under the new contracts, Keppel will provide the service to Republic Holiday Inn, Republic Suite Plaza and Estella Place in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as Grand Mercure Hotel & Resort in Quang Binh province.

The contracts were signed on Monday at the opening of a state-of-the-art Operations Nerve Centre at Keppel&rsquo s 64 hectare integrated township Saigon Sports City, which is being developed in District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, said the company.

The centre enables Keppel to remotely monitor and optimise all of its energy assets in Vietnam in real time by tapping digital technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning. &ldquo This greatly enhances the efficiency, reliability and scalability of Keppel&rsquo s EaaS solutions and delivers superior sustainability performance and economic value to its customers and users,&rdquo said Keppel.

As part of the new contracts, Keppel will also design and retrofit the existing cooling systems of its clients&rsquo developments to improve energy efficiency and asset performance. The projects are expected to be completed in phases and are projected to offset over 3,500 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

&ldquo The signing of our latest contracts and the opening of our advanced Operations Nerve Centre here in Ho Chi Minh City are significant steps forward in the expansion of our EaaS offerings and track record in Asia,&rdquo said Poh Tiong Keng, Keppel&rsquo s general manager for its Vietnam and India infrastructure division.

At the opening ceremony, Keppel also signed several Memorandums of Understanding with various partners in Vietnam &ndash including Filmore Group and real estate company Alphanam Group &ndash to explore implementing other types of EaaS offerings, including cooling, solar photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging.

SGX-listed Keppel Corporation Limited (SG:BN4) secured a place on the &ldquo Perfect 10&rdquo list on the TipRanks Smart Score tool. The stock recently made its entry onto the list five days ago, suggesting a higher probability of outperforming market averages in terms of performance.     The stock has been rated a Moderate Buy by analysts, who also forecast a potential upside of over 20% in its share price.
TipRanks provides a variety of tools to aid investors in conducting thorough research and selecting suitable investment opportunities. The  TipRanks Smart Score  tool assigns scores to stocks ranging from one to ten, which offers insights into a stock&rsquo s potential to outperform overall market returns. The assigned score is determined by evaluating eight different factors, including hedge fund activities, fundamental analysis, analyst ratings, and more.     Let&rsquo s dig deeper.     A Well-Deserved &ldquo Perfect 10&rdquo Rating
Keppel reported solid first-quarter  earnings  for 2023, driven by higher revenues and net profit. During the quarter, the Group recorded revenue of S$2,255 million, marking a growth of approximately 9% compared to S$2,068 million from the previous year. The net profit also showed a notable increase compared to the last year, primarily attributed to the substantial gain of approximately S$3.3 billion resulting from the merger of its offshore and marine (O& M) division with Sembcorp Marine (SG:S51).     After divesting from the marine segment, the company has shifted its focus towards an asset-light and recurring earnings model. Moving forward, the company is experiencing ongoing robust transaction volumes in infrastructure and data centers, both of which are crucial services that continue to attract high demand.     Last month,  Adrian Loh from UOB Kay Hian  confirmed his Buy rating on the stock, forecasting a 40% growth rate in the share price.     At the same time,  DBS analyst Pei Hwa Ho  also reiterated his Buy rating on the stock with a price target of S$8.3. This implies an upside of 28.6% in the share price.     What is the Target Price for Keppel Stock?    According to TipRanks&rsquo analyst consensus,  BN4 stock  has a Moderate Buy rating. The stock has a total of five recommendations, of which four are Buy.     The average share price forecast is S$7.84, which is 22% higher than the current price level.
Ending Notes    Keppel&rsquo s well-deserved &ldquo Perfect 10&rdquo Smart Score is fairly based on its fundamentals of diversified business operations, technical analysis, and favorable analyst comments. The positive ratings lend further support to the investment opportunity at hand.   |

Collateral damage. Keppel is in the clean energy industry as Sembcorp. So when Sembcorp down, it will affect Keppel too.

So far no bad news.  Only good ones. The price has been fallen maybe because of poor market sentiment as US and China markets are all not doing well lately.  For  US market,  one would expect a correction to come. As for China and HK,  they are trying very hard to revive the economy.    Good thing is a  market crash is not on the horizon. Technically,  Keppel has formed another rising expanding wedge which is bearish according to the textbook.  But it can still continue to go up until the bottom of the expanding wedge is broken.  Presently,  there is head and shoulder line and Keppel is about to test.  Read all about it.  https://skyjuiceiswater3.blogspot.com/2023/07/singapore-stock-keppel-corporation.html
