Making good the 10% float according to Verghese is through staff taking up awards/options through the treasury shares. 

Present buying trends for the past weeks is accumulate if not by any of the substantial shareholders, would not affect the float. M is still below 20% and would they be happy?

attempts to cross 10% public float threshold seems half-hearted or some guys could be accumulating to prevent it...nice theory. anyway, agree that earnings growth is the way forward...good luck to all vested.

Really dont know.
But T , Mitsu are working on well esp w this tie up w Mitsu importing fm Olam for Japn mkt. ( is this not a larger potential to come)
Kc Gp , Orbis ? and mgt wld be happy jus sitting down and look /count the coming profit.
So unless the 90% issue ....I dont see any hostile taker ?
Anyway, jus need a further good qtr to push it higher

Its late but just off my head....T and M tgt have about 75% .....Olam is a great source of food stuff for many countries and certainly a good source with upper and lower chain .  I am very certain both have a v long term view.
Just my wish ( ok guess) .....totally not surprise these 2 can collaborate to take it private for both Spore and Jpan ....
Easy for them to pay a premium to buy out the 25%....oh jus a wild guess.
Whatever, base on current report ....Olam do expect good result and margins over the next few years .

Thanks RM....very detailed from the recent agm.  I guess from various response, mgt of OLAM wld very much like Olam to continue to float .
Including share buy back ( which is limited now due to this 10% ) ....WHICH IS V POSIITVE ...meaning can support higher share price.
Eventually ....keeping this 10% free float is going to be tough each year which mgt stock options ....
Extra cash can only be invested into new bz or returned to shareholders ...which spell higher dividends and normally resulted in higher share prices.

Yes. As for the stock exchange, we need to have 10% free float to remain listed. We have lost that free float at this point in time. We were expecting the free float to be restored with the conversion of the warrants, which was &ndash which happened on the 28th of January. However, because some of the existing shareholders have accreted some shares, that did not happen. The next milestone is we have the restricted share awards to the management team and the performance share awards to the management team which will vest on 1st of April.

When those vest, we will restore our free float about 10%, barring any of the existing shareholders not buying more shares and remaining at that level. So we are in discussions with the stock exchange and we have given them this plan. And we will wait and see what happens in April. But our view today is that with the vesting of the performance share awards and restricted share awards in April, we will restore our free float and therefore continue to remain listed." "

x 0 		They both are corporate and esp T should have good governance. The early interest expense is still money and there have to be valid  reasons for its action. Something is/was brewing. The early action triggers the free float issue( which they must know all the while) and why was there no immediate announcement  by the CEO when the warrant closes as promised when he announced the problem in October.

My personal view is that for T and Chanrai ...the int exp is very small for them . However their move to exercise their warrants do speak volume on their confident and future of Olam  ( esp Temasek )
Early or late, I am sure they do plan to exercise .  As for Sunny ( LOL ) as in individual ...every day counts ( maybe)
Anyway , the exercised warrant is a small % of their total holdings.  Not many shareholders look into this final few %

LOL u are one who continue to monitor their warrants very closely .  Honestly its not really a big % of the shares.
85% are in hands of Big hands.....so this counter can trade up easily once another set of results are out // with full contribution from Mit trading , I do expect a good set of result with increase in cash flow.

The free float owned by public shareholders (excluding Temasek, MC, KC and Olam management) accounts for approximately 14.8% of the total issued share capital.As of end-August 2017, about 9.9% of total issued share capital (excluding treasury shares) was held by institutional investors.
About 5% is really the free float. The American institutional investors referred to a large fund Ortis?.
Because of the warrants MC share holdings is below 20% about 18%

MC need to maintain 20% for equity accounting?

when temasek et al offered to buy all the shares few years back, they kept > 10% free float to maintain listing status. that was during the muddy water ' ç risis' , i believe they intended to regain back public confidence by subjecting the company to public scrutiny.  that reason no longer exist now, of course only time will tell...haha

Interesting support. Seems like it's slowly creeping up from late last year when I first caught notice of Olam at the high 1.8 - low 1.9. Now it's shifting to 2. Might re enter once results day is announced and things continue this way..

Orbis had the shares all along in their various funds they control. The lastest reflect a reorganisation within Orbis that refect the direct control of 221mil shares. See substantial shareholders 2015 accounts

Actually, I still think there' s some hope, not too much perhaps, but still there' s hope.  If we look at the filings under Cap 11, we' d see many, including global household American names, having  emerged perhaps even stronger.  Recall in the aftermath of the 2009 GFC even coys like GM went through Cap 11?  N if we look at CFG' s filing on SGX on 1 Jul 16,  no matter how circumspect I am, I think it deserves a little benefit of the doubt.  On the other hand, I tend to have greater reservation on the article that one of our brother forumers has highlighted below which has suggested that shareholders wld very likely end up with nothing -  but this point seems  to me not well  supported.  My sense is that with CFG' s valuable anchovy quota n viable fishmeal ops in Peru, there seems reasonable chance of rejuvenating the coy.  So, while we shd be prepared for the worst case scenario, there' s possibly some hope left.  Cheer up brothers n sisters.
