My apology, the name should be Mr Teo Lay Swee and not Teo Lay Chwee.

Most of the information are available in Co' s annual report 2013 and notice of EGM. The information not in the report is on Cockpit International Pte Ltd as you need to know the history of Teo Lay Chwee' s business in the past and his son being Teo Kok Woon, is a non executive director of TSH and Chairman of Cockpit and Goodearth (See profile of Board in AR 2013).

Just came back from the AGM and noted this Co has a NAV of 18.55 cts as against current price of 12.2 cts. Zero gearing ratio for the past 3 years and holding about $30m in cash/fixed deposit. EGM was held to pass resolution for moving into property business in Australia in addition to exsiting business. Noted the major shareholder of of TSH is Cockpit International Pte Ltd (If i am not wrong, some may remember Mr Teo Lay Chwee, the fonder of Cockpit Hotel located opposite Itana). Cockpit International Pte Ltd has more than 30 years of experience in property business in Australia and London. It' s interesting to see how this company will be in the next few years after going into property business.

Well said, must manage the mindset of greed n fear. Else, ended up buy high sell low. Look carefully into this company' s past announcements and also study into current events, that why I bought this counter again.

Some people are just so worried that it influence other to be as negative as well.

Its like a group of soldier hanging on together. A small group of team mates gets sweaty and very nervous or even getting panic before a small crisis.   The whole team will fear. BUT fear is not real . Its created in the mind.   Unless there are real evidence of " cause"   that something is wrong. Is there ?

No bad news. All i fact are positive. Just the market going thru a little corrections.

And the Ukraine crisis. Also rate hike. China economic data sliding little.

Fund houses having huge cash resource to punt makes use of brokerage firms world wide to release some real current issue and   amplified the negative so that it would   cause some negative psychology to force   ppl holding stoks to sell. That cause price slights. Even on some good stocks.

Thats the opportunity for them to buy cheap.

Thats the way market is working. The deep pocket group making use of powerful stocks writers just to amplifier prevailing potential bad news which ar unlikely scenarios.   BUT once market is effected by certain articles.   Stocks slights. This big HOuses start to buy and , news and articles will change its reporting nature to more positive and thing ghoes back to normal and stock rises again.

And it will be time for this big funds again to grab priofitc - buy low sell high. all over.

having said   all. Its really not within us to do anythng about but perhaps to play along,.

Just some thoughts to share.

I am actually specualting as there is no evidence to support what I said :)

Cheers Kesera sera. whatever will be will be.

It' s a logical question, how mant people can live without public transport? Once all the older part replacements are completed, the costs will be reduced, hence bottomline will be better. Besides, there is also earlier announcement of fare adjustment. Certainly, market will react first, especially all the better counters are also moving lately.

I do not know about others, but all shareholders were told that Deputy Chairman, Mr Kua Hong Pak is doing free service on the Board of SBSTransit. Of course for those who received " KPKB" , surely are deserved to hear KPKB in surround sound system, from the commutors, shareholders and relevant authority.

Good analysis, one important note that I have learnt from SBSTransit' s AGM, listed companies providing public transports are in similar dilemma situation as the relevant authority. Whilist fares are not in control on one hand, and yet delivery returns to shareholders is the responsibility of the Board. The relevant authority needs to balance the political issue of fares for mass and yet to ensure survival of the listed companies. It' s not an easy job. Rise fares by a few cents, you will hear lots of KPKB........, Listed companies not making money, you will also hear lots of KPKB too. Try to go to the AGMs of SBSTransit and SMRTfrownfrownfrown

SMRT - Price surged today with heavy volume queried by SGX
Written By Stock Fanatic on Thursday, April 24, 2014 |

Daily Chart
Share price of SMRT surged more than 20% today, hitting as high as S$1.24. The stock was heavily traded and eventually closed at $1.215 (up 18.5%).
What we think:
Two possible reasons.

Scenario 1: Railway Financing Framework in place - Highly possible -
We believe that SMRT is making inroads with regulators regarding the accounting of asset transfers under the new rail-financing framework. This is assume to be very close to a conclusion. In short, the end result will be a predictable cash flows and a more sustainable financing model, which will alter the fate of the company.

Think of this as a &ldquo cost-plus&rdquo model on a Public-Private-participation scheme. Under the new rail financing framework, LTA will collect a licence charge that the operator will pay for the right to run and generate returns from the revenue service. The monies received will be pooled together to replace and enhance operating equipment such as trains, signaling systems and other operating assets for operating the Railway Transport System (RTS).

The licence charge comprises fixed and variable components. The fixed component is calibrated to take into account factors such as the viability of the line, its long-term operational and maintenance needs, and the benefits and costs that the line is likely to bring to/impose on the rest of the railway network. The variable component ensures the appropriate level of risk-sharing between government and the operator.

What this means in our numbers?
We modeled in significant amount of service enhancement works that would be completed within the next 24 months, related costs would taper, leading to margin recovery in FY2015F. As such, we should see a 36% yoy improvement on core net profit (FY15 net profit S$84m).

The shift/change in business model (to cost-plus model, if indeed this happen) will would also go a long way into reversing SMRT&rsquo s bus losses 12-18 months from now and significantly improve margins, earnings and cash flows. This should help mitigate the incremental costs required to improve the other related opex (e.g. staff costs, repairs and maintenance costs, etc.), which are currently causing severe the cost-revenue misalignment.
Technical Analysis
Daily Chart
Scenario 2: Nationalization of SMRT? - Lower possibility &ndash
Though not ruled out entirely, is the possibility of nationalizing the company. Hard to imagine why that should be the case. We do not think it is in the interest of the government to &ldquo own&rdquo back the company, and subject itself to further abuse from disgruntled commenters whenever trains breakdown, or fare increase is necessitated. Yes, granted that Temasek owns 55% of the company, but this is not so Olam-like. Of course, many of us are left scratching our heads on that transaction.

What you should do:
Fare adjustment remains a problem and revenue growth will still lag behind cost inflation. Once the new railway financing framework come into play, and predictable cash flows and a more sustainable financing model are ensured, fate of the company remains bleak. Until then, the stock may continue to struggle.

Old News on Keppel' s subsidairy' s holdings in Jasper.

"   On 1 December 2011, Hygrove acquired 41,000,000 shares through a

placement of shares which, when aggregated with the 201,784,478 shares
already held by Hygrove, increased Hygrove' s shareholding to 5.88%.

Hygrove is a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Limited which
is an associated company of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited.

Accordingly, Temasek has a deemed interest in the 242,784,478 shares
held by Hygrove." Source- Jasper' s Corporate Announcement on 6 Dec 2011 and still found the shareholding in the AR 2013.

Finally, it' s starting to turnaround. With proper care, there is a good chance to recover as it' s in O & G business.

It' s up to your foresight to spot a gem if you believe it' s a gem.

In the AGM yesterday, there were shareholders persisrtantly asking the Board for higher dividend payout. Looks like these folks are not looking at long terms. Plently listed Company are also paying 1 cent dividend. I am of the view if you can accept the 1 cent dividend, why still hold it especially, year after year appearing at AGM asking same old question wasting all the fellow shareholders' rime prolonging the meeting time.

As shareholder, you are entiled to ask question, but please ask intelligent questions. I left the AGM after my own question answered (i am still not satisfied with the answers given by the CEO), because the same shareholder asked questions which were answered many times over.  angryangryangry

Will ask the Board about the credit policy of granting advances. The impairment loss of $439m was 3.5 times over the total dividend payment of $122m. Looks like you borrowed from Genting to game is far better than holding the shares. Anyone cares to comment.
