x 0 		Keppel OM had squandered their good fortune in Floatel, Kris Energy etc (About $1.5 billion gone) and have got $3billion worth of unsold rigs collecting dust at its rapidly aging yard.


Sembmarine, on the other hand, has used its fortune from the good years to build its state of the art Tuas Boulevard yard and the EJA yard (largest and most advanced yard in Brazil) to prepare itself for the next offshore boom.

x 0 		Keppel corp is going to suffer in 2022 as their key property markets like China and Vietnam have been in a tail spin since Q4 last year. Shares of China and Vietnam property developers like Vinhomes, Country Garden and Evergrande have fallen by more than 30% over the past few months.  Think KC would be spared, think again. A matter of time. KC would correct or tank by Q1 update.

I said this in October 19, Management may be trying to kitchen sink everything this year, then next year 2022 will be a better year. I saw this in the financial outlook now. I am optimistic. Projection beyond the 2nd half of 2022 has no relevance. SM is no longer around.

x 0 		William Goh was generally evasive during the Q& A. Only thing he stated with certainty and a smile (replay the webcast to see it for yourself) is that SCM has more cash now (end Feb) than the $1.1 billion as at end 2021 as a result of the cash collection from major deliveries like Vito, Johan and Tyra. Just that it took some time after delivery to complete the paperwork to get the cash, therefore it is not reflected in the cash balance as at YE 2021.    laugh


Also, about $520million was used for debt repayment in 2021, so not exactly being expensed. Overall, a neutral and expected set of results.

Keppel OM- $414 mil net loss
Sembmarine- $332 mil net loss

" Significant improvement" for SCM expected in H1 2022 means reporting a sizable profit. To be fair, it is not exactly " real" profit. The H12022 profit is the result of their " over provision" in 2021. Just like how the local banks reported a smaller profit in 2020 and than a bumper profit in 2021. Actually, there is not much difference in their profit in 2020 vs 2021. Just the result of " creative" accounting.

x 0 		I think the gross value is about S$3.2 billion. 


Previosuly, Keppel OM won the P78 bid with Hyundai Heavy as co-partner (to build the hull). So by right, Keppel' s share of P78 should be about $1.8 billion but they put the whole S$3.2 billion into their order book to inflate their pending orders as a leverage to bargain with Temasek.

x 0 		Keppel OM already swallowed P78 last year. Not likely to go aggressive on this one. So SCM stands a good chance to lock this one in given the low interest from the Korean and other yards.

Two large shipyards aim at Petrobras own P-80 FPSO contract

 


(PetroleoHoje) The dispute over the contract for the P-80, Petrobras&rsquo own FPSO that will make up the 9th module of Buzios, in the Santos cluster, should be restricted to two large international groups. After successive postponements and a long period of lack of interest, the Sembcorp and Keppel shipyards began to work to present a proposal in the bid, requesting quotes from suppliers.

The movement of the Sembcorp and Keppel shipyards in relation to the P-80 tender began to gain strength at the beginning of the year. Until 2021, there were no signs of interest from the two shipyards or other groups.

Keppel recently won, in a consortium with Hyundai, a contract with Petrobras for the construction of the P-78, a 180,000 bpd FPSO, which will be installed in the 7th module of Buzios, in 2025.

The lack of initial market interest in the P-80 tender put Petrobras on alert. In addition to carrying out consecutive postponements of the date of delivery of proposals, the oil company worked behind the scenes to try to increase the interest of shipyards in the business, changing some guidelines of the contract and the public notice.

The contract conditions originally established by Petrobras were considered very strict by the companies. Among the adjustments made, the oil company chose to improve payment terms, reducing the negative cash flow for the company that wins the contract.

The delivery of bid proposals is scheduled for May 16, one year after the public notice was launched. In the last postponement of the schedule, the deadline for delivery of offers was extended by six months.

x 0 		If you need to buy say 2 billion shares of SCM at the lowest price possible to cover your short position, you would want it to close lower everyday.


If it closes at 8.7 as it should, seller would want to queue at 8.8 the next day instead of 8.7. So you would have to pay more to accumulate.


For retailers, it is buy or sell at a single price point. For the BB, it is " accumulate" or " distribute" over a price range and over an extended period of time.

For the past week, Shortist have been accumulating at 8.7 and always throw a few lots to close at 8.6


Just like the last trading hour, someone bought about 10 million shares at 8.7 and then threw a lots to close it at 8.6 again in the closing seconds.
