SQ is a good candidate for shorting!
Governments in APAC are not really supportive of reopening their borders and Singapore has no domestic market, so even with a few travel bubbles I cannot see how SQ can run more than 25% of its fleet in the next 6-12 months (only 1-2% of the fleet is running now, so even going to 25% needs lots of travel bubbles and much less cumbersome green lanes!). Reading that a trip to Hong Kong may necessitate 4 times testing at a cost of $800 per person is almost a guarantee for failure for travel bubbles, so 25% is really a best case, unless governments will start to do more than just paying lip service to their decimated travel industry.
Cathay Pacific (which has a similar problem due to closed borders and no domestic market) just said it only sees 10% of its fleet running in 2020 and 25% in first half of 2021.

Let SIA fly to NY, india, brazil also. Top 3 covid ctries. Fly europe also. Soon the air stewardess will have covid. How will they be classify? Imported cases or in transit cases? Then sg need another CB? |
