In all likely behavour, it will test around 34 before moving upwards nearer August , when the fishing season ends. You think the invisible had collected enough, bearing in mind shares owned by listed entities cannot be moved.

Isolator is hoping and praying. Has never seen facts or basis posted.

We should be here to help each other, at all we want to make some money however small it maybe.

If you believe in the longer term like I do, especially with Temasek enhancements, why not look at the company' s warrants.

No time premium. Olam dividends will be adjusted for as capital distributions(see last adjustment).

Cheap entry.

Only problem Temasek and Management got so much that there is little liquidity. But that is not a problem if you are prepared to hold

Olam.....: ))

Whatever, it has stay above 2.23 price offer by Temasek side.....and now with below 20% scripts in circulation,  into a cash positive positve, lower interest cost due to Temasek backing.  further expecting a better quarters ahead ( oh and any potential buy over of companies to its portfolio ...Temasek has lot of $$) .. we can all guess where this counter will go over the longer term.

Withdrawal from the pollock business affected the whole group.

Two positives:

The Ngs will have to depend on their fortune on CF. They are the only Big Brother and has to create value for Group Funding, I expect rerating with Improved CF results. If they dont push, who will? Certainly no one in the available free float will dare.

The cash release from Russia will stand CF in good financial health.

Negatives fish is a gamble.....anchovy is full of bones.

I wish you stay calm and be more focus like the Lady with the fat ginger cat.

The retail players are more seasoned than you think. It was reported here that Star and Mano own millions?

earlybird14      ( Date: 30-May-2014 09:51) Posted:

Actually, I am negative on this company.

After acquisition Copeinca, it shall be 1 + 1 = 2 effect which the revenue and profit shall be x 2 and profit shall be made for serving the loan, especially the few hundreds million notes with 9.75% interest they issued few years ago for the Russian Pollock Contract.

Some contributor contribute the news state they have lose this business and plan to shut down the factory in Qing Dao, the revenue also show a huge drop in the this division which i believe the news is truth.

Now, basically China Fishery is highly depend on the operation from the Peru Anchovy which is very high risk too. News has come out to state the catch is slow which imply the quota may be cut in the next fishing season. No matter how much price the fish oil or fish meal can go up, cutting down the volume will has great impact to the company like what happen 2 years ago.

However, all these doesn' t reflect on the share price trading recently. But in long term, this stock is a high risk stock due to the uncertainty.

All the best to who vested.

Whether 50c .... 70c it shall surely come. It is a matter of time.

Earlybird14, they are not concern about the loan. You should inquire what is their next game plan ? Something BIGGER maybe

Think about it from business point of view. Equilibrium is UP trend

Pacific Andes says it will keep buying pollock on spot, as sources say Qingdao plant up for demolition

Pacific Andes says it will keep buying pollock on spot, as sources say Qingdao plant up for demolition

May 26, 2014, 8:43 am

Pacific Andes International Holdings will have to demolish its huge pollock plant in Qingdao, China, within five years, sources told Undercurrent News.

Hong Kong-listed Pacific Andes has until now been the world&rsquo s largest producer of double frozen pollock fillets from its plant in Qingdao.

The news follows the forecast by rating agency Moody&rsquo s that Pacific Andes will exit the Russian pollock business altogether.

Asked about this, the company told Undercurrent its subsidiary China Fishery Group would continue to purchase pollock on the spot market, when prices are favorable.

The spokesperson would not comment on information that its large Qingdao plant is due for demolition.

According to sources, this news is &ldquo well known in the industry&rdquo . It is due to a government resolution, which has identified the area where the plant is as a high-class residential area, said one source.

&ldquo Everybody knows this, including the government,&rdquo said this executive, who is based in Qingdao. &ldquo Pacific Andes even has chosen the new place to build a new plant, which is in Jiaonan.&rdquo

This executive said Pacific Andes would receive a generous compensation for the move.

&ldquo We do not have any comment to make on this,&rdquo said the Pacific Andes spokesperson.

Pacific Andes&rsquo latest financial results in May revealed that it suffered a 53% decline in revenue from its Russian supply business to $105.3m from October 2013 to March 2014.

On March 24, the company had announced that it was terminating its long-term supply agreements (LSAs), to buy pollock on the spot market from the Russian Far East instead for its plants in China.

&ldquo Although following the termination of the LSAs, the group participated in the spot market, the group did not trade on occasions when the spot prices of certain products were unfavorable,&rdquo the company then commented in its first half year results in May.

&ldquo In line with its announcements, the current plan for China Fishery Group is continue to purchase products from the Russia Far East at spot prices or on a short term contract basis,&rdquo the spokesperson now told Undercurrent. &ldquo The extent of these purchases will vary dependent on the favorability of prices.&rdquo

Hayduk aims to quadruple premium, organic fishmeal production

hayduk_fishmealApril 24, 2014, 4:10 pm

Flush with a new $150 million loan, Peruvian anchovy catcher and producer Pesquera Hayduk is focusing efforts  on substantially upping  its value-added fishmeal production.

This will involve boosting production of premium and organic fishmeal  for  niche markets, Hayduk' s  CEO  Walter Martinez told  Undercurrent News.

Martinez said  Hayduk, which secured  an eight-year  $150m syndicated loan in February, is investing $7m  to improve its vessels' cooling systems and install  new technology in its fishmeal plants.

Fishmeal is no longer a commodity, said the executive, as international certifying bodies can measure its nutrients, such as specific amino acids or omega 3, verifying and highlighting its benefits.

" This leads us to change our strategy to differentiate ourselves and be more aggressive to reach niche markets," Martinez told  Undercurrent.

The planned increase is not negligible.

For 2014, Hayduk expects  to increase its premium fishmeal volumes to 10,000-15,000 metric tons, which is at least  a four-fold increase from  the previous year.

In 2013, premium fishmeal sales already more than doubled  to 2,300t &ndash 142% up year-on-year.

That said the increases are from a very small base &mdash Hayduk only launched its premium fishmeal offer in 2012. At just  950t, it accounted for only  0.01% of the company&rsquo s total fishmeal production  that year.

The same year, prime and super prime fishmeal accounted for  60% of Hayduk' s total fishmeal production,  at  20,395 metric tons and 25,603t respectively, according to its annual report.

The progressive increase of premium fishmeal output involves a push to maximize the value of production.

" Prices for premium are higher than super prime fishmeal, as this product has higher protein content and more freshness," Martinez said.

Super prime  fishmeal from Peru is currently trading  at around $1,600 to $1,620 per metric ton,  according to industry suppliers.

" Ten years ago selling prime or super prime fishmeal was tough, even markets like China preferred to buy standard. However, selling standard fishmeal is more difficult today," Martinez said.

" Chinese companies have realized it is better to use higher quality fishmeal."

Super prime fishmeal' s main markets are Asia and Europe.

High hopes for organic fishmeal

Hayduk started producing organic fishmeal, a high-end product with natural antioxidants thanks to Rosemary herb, in the second half of 2013

After reaching sales of 1,050t, the group  expects to increase production this year as clients start learning the benefits of our product, Martinez said.

The brand new product has great demand in Italy and England niche markets and its price reaches $70 to $100 above super prime fishmeal.

" [Organic fishmeal] is being requested by the European and the US market, given its health benefits and product safety. There is a tendency to change uses, considering the levels of amino acids and nutritional characteristics found only in anchovy," Martinez said.

For the benefit of all interested investors, I will make this comment even if it annoy some.

This share will only go up because it is making money from fishing. The cf fleet and Russia ops are in limbo and it will be good news if cf gets all the money back and make some on spot trading.

Who will push the share up because of the Carlyle warrants is pure speculation.

This anchovy quota and the selling price, together with costing savings from the combined Peru operations that Ng is to deliver, will set the price of the shares. Profits plus rerating is what I am buying into.

stockpicker      ( Date: 14-Apr-2014 10:44) Posted:

Think all that excitement is for Copeninca' s 250 mil bond holders.      The stock price of CF showed little or no excitement.    Not sure what was the interest rate for the bridging loan.  Think the last loan for  acquiring Copenica was around 8%.  If this bridging loan is below 7%,  it will be a cause for celebration.  With Moody and Fitch  just downgraded the Copeninca' s  senior notes as well as CF in Feb and Mar,  think the interest rate of the bridging loan would be higher than the last loan.    China Fish must show results in the coming months to prevent further downgrades for the Agencies and reduce the interests to be paid for future loans   otherwise,  they are heading for more difficult times  especially when the general consencus is for interest rates around the  Globe   to hike in 2015.

Pray and hope coming quota exceed 2mil ton and fish meal stays around RMB10,000 per ton at Dalain.Flying fish on little free float.

I wonder if this is the reason Carlyle got the 96mil free warrant

RoundRound      ( Date: 13-Apr-2014 10:00) Posted:

China Fishery was a good stock 3 to 4 years ago but over the years, its revenue and profit margin keep thinning and then its right issue last year lay rest to its current price.

It is heavily weighed down by it massive gearing, yes it have got it refinanced but that is for 2 years or so only and the interest rate it is paying is sucking up much of any profit it can make.

Unless it can go back to its glory days when it is making hundreds of million dollar (S$, not RMB) and paying dividend of as much as over 5 cents a share, then this share is going to suffer when interest rate rise in the coming years.

IFFO WELCOMES PERUVIAN ANCHOVY QUOTA

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

The news of an increase in the Peruvian anchovy quota for the second fishing season starting in November has been welcomed by IFFO, the international marine ingredients trade organisation. Stable biomass has enabled the Peruvian Ministry of Production to announce that the industrial anchovy fishing quota for the north-central fishing area will be 2.3 million tonnes for the November 2013 to January 2014 fishing season. Peruvian anchovy is the world' s largest fishery and it has two fishing seasons each year - with the first for north-central usually running from May to July, and the second running from November to the end of the following January.

The 2.3 million tonne quota is about 12 per cent higher than that for the first season of 2013 and more than 180 per cent higher than the 810,000 tonnes for the equivalent season of 2012.

This new quota brings the fishery back into historically normal quota ranges after the 68 per cent quota reduction imposed for last year' s second season.

Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Paul Phumpiu said the new quotas was a responsible quota intended to ensure the recovery of the biomass of the pelagic resource, established on the basis of a series of recommendations from the Instituto del Mar del Peru (IMARPE). Its latest survey determined the biomass at 10.3 million tonnes in the north-central area (5.3m 2012) and 1.87 million tonnes in the southern zone.

In addition, the Government indicated that the anchovy capture season in the south area of Peru will have a quota of 430,000 tonnes, following 400,000 tonnes for the first season of 2013, and will run from late October until March 2014. Total annual quotas for this zone have remained around 700,000 to 850,000 for the whole year for several years.

IFFO' s Director General, Andrew Mallison said: " We are very pleased to hear of increased quota based on sound science from IMARPE and the precautionary approach. The Government has also announced that surveillance systems will be strengthened on landings, discards, juvenile catch, by catch of other species and the anchovy reproductive process. It looks very much like the newly announced quotas are more in keeping with traditional historical figures and reflect the success of the emphasis on the long-term sustainability of this important marine resource."

Peru moves anchovy fishing season forward due to El Nino

April 7, 2014, 3:45 pm

Peru has decided to move forward the start of its first anchovy season of the year due to the potential impact of this year&rsquo s El Nino.

The country&rsquo s production minister Piero Ghezzi announced this year&rsquo s season will start in April instead of May, as is usually the case, reported local newspaper Gestion.

A weather phenomenon that increases water temperatures, the El Nino could make anchovy migrate to the south of Peru or move to cooler, deeper waters.

&ldquo The fishing season will take place earlier so companies can catch higher volumes,&rdquo Ghezzi said.

Peru&rsquo s first anchovy season usually runs from May to July, while the second season tends to takes place from November through January.

The production ministry, Produce, has not yet set the quota for the first season, as it still awaits recommendations from the marine institute Imarpe.

Serious impact ahead?

Experts are divided over the potential impact that El Nino could have this year for Peru&rsquo s anchovy catches.

According to fishery export and oceanic scientist Luis Icochea, Peru could witness one of the strongest El Nino to date this year, potentially substantially impacting anchovy catches, and as a result the fishmeal industry. Icochea pointed to abnormally high temperatures so far this year, which he argues are reminiscent of 1997-98.

But others have different views. NOAA&rsquo s climate prediction center (NCEP) estimates that there is about a 50% chance of El Nino developing during the summer or fall.

For his part, German Vasquez, president of ENFEN &mdash a Peruvian institution researching El Nino &mdash told local media the phenomenon this year is expected to be &ldquo from weak to moderate&rdquo .
