Yes, positive surprise.
You will never know whether there will be positive surpise in Q2 and Q3. Investors seems to price in for postive surprises going forward.

hmmmm... Yesterday UMS was sold down. And some other tech names like Frecken also.
Then suddenly UMS gave a positive earning surprise plus dividend surprise. That would have forced a lot of short covering to push the stock so high today..

Today UMS rally partly due to UMS upping the dividend back to before. So that was a positive surprise. But chairman did sound warning for the coming quarters.
I don' t know man.
Looking at the these companies. They seem to claim that they are not really affected by the lockdown, etc. Look at the statements from these companies.

so afr all have only reported Jan - Mar
Would be interesting to see the picture for April - June, I think those few months would be much uglier.
And for July - Sep, where orders placed in Q2 would be less, and revenue should be down in Q3 too..

But why the rally for all tech stocks? It seems that these companies are not affected as demand continues.

That was Q1, Jan - March quarter so far
I think the serious impact is on April - June quarter
Almost worldwide lockdown

Interesting to see manufacturers like AEM, UMS, Hi-P, JEP, Valuetronics, etc not affected by the covid-19.
was reading Maybank KE analyst last month - seems supported by fundamentals
Analyst recommended  AEM,  UMS  and  VALUE  remain BUYs.
noted AEM and UMS started to take-off earlier.
short extract from the report:
" Operational updates
Some of VMS, VALUE, and HIP&rsquo s customers are turning cautious.VMS, UMS and AEM&rsquo s facilities in Malaysia are closed from 18-Mar to 14- Apr due to a nationwide movement control order (MCO).
While VALUE&rsquo s (90% of production in China) workers have mostly returned, some of its suppliers and customers&rsquo factories are shut as their countries are locked down.

For UMS, we believe softness in consumer electronics end-markets may be cushioned by strength from data centre end-markets from the work from home economy.

AEM has maintained FY20 sales guidance of SGD360- 380m, and hence has the strongest earnings visibility, in our view.
Inside the report, we provide ROEs and estimated earnings CAGRs at various share prices to gauge what the market is currently pricing in.
Where do we see valuation support?  While we continue to expect share price volatility, AEM, UMS and VALUE&rsquo s valuations appear attractive.
VALUE is trading at 1.1x FY20E ex-cash P/E, near crisis lows. "

This one just tagged along UMS today, but business may not be as good during these periods, as IOT is not semi conductors
The Group&rsquo s factories at Huizhou, Guangdong Province in PRC (the &ldquo PRC Factories&rdquo ) have resumed operations and production on the week starting 17 February 2020 and have managed the return of employees in an orderly manner according to the local government authorities&rsquo guidelines. As of the date of this announcement, over 80% of the Group&rsquo s employees in the PRC have resumed work. The reduced production days and the temporary drop in our production capacity in February and early March will result in a decrease in our revenue for the six months ending 31 March 2020 as compared with the corresponding period of our last financial year.
WOW value so high....!! SURPRISED
If UMS can go 94, V should be in the 8 series next 1 to 2 weeks.
if I recall correctly, V is analyst' s better pick

Hi guys, i realise the dividends are paid in HKD, just curious how do we receive the dividends?
Read online that there should be a form sent to us to indicate whether to recieve in SGD or HKD. If so, i assume there's fees. Which way would be the best to minimize such fees?
Managed to get some recently, glad it's moving up quietly.
