How Rich is Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel)?

Singtel partners Bridge Alliance to offer GPU-as-a-Service in South-east Asia 
AIS in Thailand, Malaysia' s Maxis and Telkomsel in Indonesia are among the early adopters of the offering.

1. Malaysia' s Maxis is the latest telco to use Paragon, Singtel' s 5G edge and cloud resource management platform, to offer enterprise users a secure and efficient way to make use of services and applications such as edge computing, network slicing and AI.
2. Singtel has today unveiled Southeast Asia' s first national quantum-safe network plus (NQSN+), an initiative that employs cutting-edge quantum security solutions to shield enterprises from emerging quantum threats.
3. GXS Bank Pte, a digital bank set up by Grab Holdings Ltd. and SingTel, plans to swing to a profit by March 2027 in part by doubling its loan book every six months.
4. Bharti Airtel posted 158% year-on-year growth in its consolidated net profit to Rs 4,160 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2024.  The profit beat the Street estimates by a wide margin.

8. SingTel associate Intouch Holdings has entered into an amalgamation agreement with Thailand' s Gulf Energy Development, which will result in the formation of a new public entity NewCo.      Singtel will also book an estimated gain of S$400 million from the amalgamation.
9. Singtel' s Thai associate Advanced Info Service (AIS) is not obligated to pay the 16.3 billion baht (S$602.1 million) claimed by Thailand' s National Telecom (NT). This came after the country' s Supreme Administrative Court dismissed NT' s appeal on the dispute, which dates back to 2018.      With the appeal dismissed, the dispute is now concluded,  says telco' s Thai associate.
10. SK Telecom, Singtel partner to develop next-gen 6G & AI Infrastructure  that will drive innovation, improve network performance and security and deliver enhanced customer experiences over the next two years.
11. Singtel and Hitachi Digital        announce a new collaboration that will pair Hitachi' s deep AI expertise with Singtel' s Paragon platform, the all-in-one orchestration platform for 5G, edge computing and cloud.
12. Singtel is currently using AI to support marketing communications to develop new campaigns and carry out faster testing.
13. Singtel plans another stake sale round in Airtel via block deals, according to sources. Singtel has been selling down its stake Airtel. So far, it has raised more than S$3 billion through two sales, one in 2022 and in March this year, Singtel has unlocked another S$0.95 billion with the sale of a 0.8% direct stake in Airtel to US-based investment firm GQG Partners. The resultant gain from the sale is estimated to be S$0.7 billion.

This transaction is the latest in the Singtel Group' s capital recycling efforts to unlock value from its assets, bringing the total capital recycled to S$8 billion since its strategic reset in 2021.        There will be further value unlocking initiatives.    As of date, Singtel has now identified a further S$6 billion of assets that could be monetised
15. Singtel and NTUC have signed a five-year deal to provide enhanced connectivity  to NTUC' s1.3 million members, especially youths and professionals, managers and executives (PMEs).

A consortium of KKR and Singtel ink an  agreement to  initially acquire S$1.75 billion worth of redeemable preference shares and warrants in ST Telemedia Global Data Centres  to support its international expansion and growth plans. They will subsequently invest a further S$1.24 billion into the firm, once they have exercised the warrants in full.
18. Singtel partners Lendlease for $3 billion redevelopment of Comcentre HQ  into an office redevelopment. It is estimated to carry a gross development value of $3 billion upon completion and will be a net-zero energy development built in line with carbon neutral construction principles.
19. Singtel sells US digital marketing unit mAmobe     to Britain' s Tremor International for an enterprise valuation of US$239 million (S$331 million), above the US digital media and advertising subsidiary' s carrying value of US$160 million.
20. Singtel sells its Trustwave cybersecurity business      to MC 2 Titanium for US$205 million as part of a business reshaping that has been ongoing for a couple of years.               
21. Global investment firm KKR spends over S$1.1 billion to acquire a 20 per cent stake in Singtel' s regional data centre business. KKR will have the option to increase its stake to 25 per cent by 2027 at the pre-agreed valuation.      The Singapore-based telco' s overall data centre business is said to be valued at S$5.5 billion.                         
22. Bharti Airtel, India' s second-biggest phone carrier, says  it would raise prices of its mobile plans.

The Singtel Group has deepened its commitment to environmental stewardship by making more aggressive cuts to its greenhouse gas emissions through a set of more ambitious science-based targets aligned with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5° C.    Singtel is the first telecoms company in Asia to have these targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Singtel announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Optus Mobile Pty Limited (Optus) has signed an agreement with TPG Telecom Limited (TPG Telecom) to create a regional Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN), offering significant financial growth with service fees totaling around A$1.6 billion over an 11-year contract.               
25. Singtel is among key telco players in SEA that can expand revenue streams through data centres. Data centres have been experiencing a surge in demand with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprises moving to digitalisation, says Bloomberg Intelligence.
26. Singtel announces it will be launching its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS)    in Singapore and Southeast Asia in the third quarter of this year, providing enterprises with access to NVIDIA' s AI computing power to drive greater efficiencies to accelerate growth and innovation.

Bharti Airtel adds $30 billion to its market cap to become the biggest wealth creator.    Since the beginning of 2024, the telecom major has added more than $30 billion to its market capitalisation. The addition in market valuation is the highest among listed companies in India and is derived from the success of its mobile business.
30. Optus Enterprise, the enterprise segment of Singtel' s Australia arm Optus, won a contract worth A$578 million from Services Australia for its customer contact management services. Contract duration is for six years
31. KakaoBank and Superbank Enter Strategic Partnership to Drive Digital Banking Innovation in Indonesia.  Superbank is a new transitioning digital-focused bank in Indonesia backed by a consortium comprising Grab, Singtel, and Emtek Group.       
32. Singtel is one of the largest data centre operators in Singapore by capacity, and is extending its lead by developing three next-generation, AI-ready data centres in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, through its Nxera data centre brand.    This will increase its data centre capacity from 62 megawatt (MW) in Singapore to over 200MW across the region in the next three years.
