Fresh reporrt from the oven (Offshore oil and gas is going to boom right now) To date, according to Rystad Energy, deepwater oil is the second-cheapest in the world, after onshore Middle Eastern oil, whose breakeven price is around $30 per barrel. The average breakeven price for deepwater oil is $43 a barrel. This is good news because most of the untapped oil reserves in the world are located offshore, and despite pessimistic demand forecast, many believe the world will continue needing dozens of millions of barrels of oil in the decades to come. Many, if not most, of these dozens of millions of barrels will be coming from offshore fields. Exxon is not the only one betting strongly on offshore exploration amid the pandemic. Brazil&rsquo s Petrobras is planning a focus on deepwater exploration and production for the next five years, the company said last month, when it also announced a downward revision to its spending program for the period. The Brazilian major said in a filing that it will spend $55 billion over the next five years, down by 27 percent in 2019. Of the total, 84 percent would go towards exploration and production, most of it in the prolific pre-salt zone, which is estimated to hold billions of barrels of undiscovered oil. |

Exactly. The lift is definitely going to higher because the intrinsic value of SMM is around 40 to 50 cents. During boom times, may get closer to $1/-

The share price went down because some big players or THE player wants it down for now, for whatever reason. So THE player sell or short sell to bring it down. Period. For long term investor like me, it really does not matter. If I can, I will take advantage of the situation to buy more. If I can' t buy, I can always hold on to my existing position. Waiting is free. For most SMM investors, it would be best for them to take a 6 months nap and ignore what happen in between. |

Essentially, UOB KH/s report is saying thatSMMt should be trading at 0.64x book value or 12+ cents per share. So when SMM is trading at 12 cents in November, they say the price is just about right, so HOLD. When SMM is trading at 17 cents last week, it is much higher than their calculated fair value, so SELL. They are entitled to have their opinion, just like anyone else. The only issue of couse is that the anayst did not get the Book value per share right. But so be it. The last 2 days selling has got nothing to do with the UOB KH report. |

abe8888, his view is actually quite positive - banks now see the company in an even more positive light given its stronger balance sheet&mdash although it conceded that its cash flow in 2020 will be affected by the delivery delays [understandable due to covid-19] its yards are back to full capacity and its repairs & upgrades (R& U) business is busy, new order flow may only resurface in the first half of 2021 at the earliest haha ... anyway everyone is winding down toward end of the year.

heard some unhappy fellows are bringing the matter up. no other houses made such an erroneous call. don' t think he can simply walk away after making a call like that. now they are looking into the report. let him go and explain whether future or whatever facts. if you said fake news is bad, this kind of erroneous report is also not acceptable. otherwise everyday got counter being sold down because a reputable coy anaylst gave a wrong figure. let' s see what the authority has to say

If the sole reason for SMM' s sharp decline yesterday and today is the latest analyst' s sell call, then there could be something fishy going on. SGX needs to investigate. There have been many sell calls and downgrades for other counters, without a similar reaction. |

My take? Don' t bother looking or thinking about all these. If you have done your homework, then stick to it. This is a loss making company and has been a shortists' favourite for many many years. Until it confirms its promises, the share price is going to be wild. If you look at the chart, from TA, it is beaten down but now trying to get up. Hopefully it will. Business-wise, I think it' s viable. But the change will not be fast. It will be a painful/emotionally draining journey. Normally I will not invest in companies like this but I made a mistake 2 years ago. Now have to salvage it (I have salvaged 25-30% of my loss). Why am I not cutting now? Well, it' s already so low and I think this is a good opportunity. So might well bet on it. I think Q12021 we will have a much better view of this. Just my $0.02 worth. DYODD.

Actually, I did wonder why bother to comment... should just ride on the stampeding herd of elephants. It is, however, very painful to see the light at the end of the tunnel getting diminished again and again.. " Wash trades occur when there is a simultaneous purchase and sale of the same security where there is neither a change in the beneficial ownership nor a transfer of risk. Such trades artificially increase trading volumes or maintain prices, which may constitute false trading" . I googled " market manipulations wash trading sgx mas" and read that wash trades are illegal and SGX and MAS frown on them and has detection tools which are hopefully not broken and the operators not sloppy! May I speculate that yesterday there was some washing done as the volume was too high (with just the issue of an erroneous report).
