Can I ask an honest opinion - I think it makes sense to subscribe for the SIA Rights Shares, but I am not sure about subscribing for the SIA MCB Rights, given the high conversion price of SGD4.84 in 10 years time and that the implicit yield of 6 percent is not that attractive (especially given the high conversion price). Anyone has a different view about the SIA MCB Rights?  Or should we let it go?  Others could be in the same position.  Thanks.

You can refer to your chart starting from 2009 till now. Those subscribe and still holding. Their dbs are probably free now from the dividends and capital gain.

Indeed, for Win bro case his trading style is fast and furious, it is not for long term so SIA might not a good bet for him. The stocks can give him fast and furious are those penny stocks ....which also meant the loss can be fast and furious if bet wrongly. I think Ngeeh made a good advice to ask us to reflect on our own plan . He pointed out sincerely that most normal traders like us will not gain well on daily basis. Once in a while, we can gamble small la lol. Long term wise, still need to aim for some good potential stocks. @ win Bro, I suggest you could look into some IT stocks for 1 year plan lol. UMS or AEM(when AEM corrects further) , you can consider.  SIA is definitely a risky bet but return could be good in 2 years time if you buy at hte right price.  We have no doubt all people Need to fly no matter what. SG is still an important aviation hub after this pandemic is over unless we are saying we will not travel in 10 years lol. Based on my simple thinking, SIA will rise back but dont expect 8 dollars or 10 dollars in 1 year la . Be realistic .

You said it yourself.. no one can be sure of anything. That says it all. One thing for sure, i wont be telling people SIA will go even lower in 1yr or 5 yrs or even 10yrs. I just quoted DBS as an eg... rights at 5.42. Who can predict it will go to 30? My point is to view the situation objectively. This is also my 2ct worth.

If i may say so,u are a suavy opportunists. Not many has ur capability.
But in my humble opinion, if a CEO doesn?t know how to react and handle to situation, i think he is not qualified to be one. Worst if he is highly paid... Whether the med counters is sleeping mode or not, it is very dependent on their biz model in the first place. Anyway, whether they are awake or not, One thing for sure. airline industries is a no go for the time being jz to keep it simple.. But don?t get me wrong, i do not mean is dead, jz that they are now in ICU and May fall into coma For quite a while. depending on each individual trading style, No one can be sure of anything.. My 2 cts worth..

If it is an opportunity and those who think it is ... then why not to average down. Their money, their call. When DBS issue rights at 5.42 last time, who can foresee it will go to 30? Take it easy.. no point getting emotionally worked up with things you cant control.

If your current holdings were bought at a high, and if you want to play long term, the only way is to buy more at the low. But at least you don't have to average down and suffer more losses because the drop was very drastic.

To be frank, if there is no rights issue in SIA, I wont go into SIA for sure. Stocks always evolve very quickly according to market conditions. Its an opportunity to make some money from it now. Its as simple as that. Your trading time frame will vary according to the money you are able to put in. On the other hand ,those in medical stocks, if theres no pandemic now, medical stocks will still be in sleeping mode now. So lets not keep talking  about how the companies should be run. Its not like their CEOs suddenly know how to run the companies well.

Can cut half and leave the rest there. The share eventually will still go up... but to what price, i am not sure.. or u can cut all and use the good money for other counters that potentially can mitigate some of ur losses...
For SIA, even if it goes back to a good HIGH, it is manipulated and does not reflect from the market. Unless u are a very very good trader that can catch the right wave, else to me is pure gambling... The fact is that Airline industries will lose money for at least a few years.. and even longer to get back to hay days.. so, work out what u can afford to lose and don?t look back... My humble 2cts worth.. Dyodd

lol ur money is ur call. it is a bit high for u to buy at that price withour right shares. I will average again if u have faith in this company in 1-2 years time. If not, you may cut at a comfy loss then

In March they have reach a deal to prevent job loss for all.
They have union . A 50-year-old chief flight attendant, who has worked at SIA for 27 years, told TODAY: ?Sars (severe acute respiratory syndrome in 2003) was not as bad. Flights then were only cancelled to the China region, but not so much with the rest of the world. We were apprehensive then, but not as much as now.? She also declined to be named. In normal times, she would work for about 20 days of each month, but now it is only about six to eight days a month. Without her in-flight hours and layover allowances, which usually make up the bulk of her pay, she can barely pay her mortgage or keep paying for a caretaker to look after her ailing mother. Her greatest worry now is of retrenchment ? a mounting fear that she said is rippling through the ranks of her colleagues. ?Some of the girls are single mothers. They have to take care of their children. They have to take care of their parents,? she said, adding that she also provides for her three godchildren and their single mother. ?How will I find another job? Everyone is downsizing. My talents are basically tied to what I?ve been doing for the past 27 years,? she said, also declining to be named. A Singapore-based flight attendant from a different airline said the last flight she worked on was on March 12, and her next confirmed flight is on April 13. The woman, 28, said with her allowances also disappearing, her pay has slipped to a third of its usual level. Her basic pay is S$1,200 a month. She also worries about job security. ?There?s a fear of retrenchment, there?s a fear of compulsory no-pay-leave, there?s a fear that the company might just collapse. Right now, a lot of places have stopped hiring, so if I am retrenched what am I going to do?? she told TODAY. Though her airline has a strict policy that bars its current flight attendants from working a second job, she has been wrestling with the idea of breaking the rules and moonlighting as a temperature screener during this period. In the meantime, her loss of income has stalled her plans this year to move out of her family home and into a rented flat. ?I already paid the deposit, and I might have to terminate the rental and lose money before I can even move in. It?s quite sad,? she said. An SIA pilot, who declined to be named, has been working for the airline for 30 years. He told TODAY that despite taking a 55 per cent pay cut and being made to take compulsory no-pay leave for seven days starting April 1, he still has savings and investments to rely on. However, he is afraid of the health consequences that he might face. The pilot, who is scheduled to helm a flight fairly soon, said: ?I'm sure there'll be people infected onboard. I'm going to come home with two kids in the house. They are young and will survive, but I've also got my parents who are 80 years old. I cannot sit down with them. Then where do I go? I go to a hotel room in my own country.? ?Why should I spend S$2,000 (on the hotel) and when I walk in and out people think I'm there for a good time?? TODAY reached out to the Air Line Pilots Association Singapore (Alpa-S) which said its staff have been working very closely with SIA and the Ministry of Manpower to explore different initiatives to ?assist and lend support to our pilots?. ?The deal that has been negotiated has been principled upon preventing job losses for all and includes pilots taking a total of 50 per cent (First Officers) and 55 per cent (Captains) reduction in pay in basic and variable monthly salary,? said Captain Kenneth Lai, Alpa-S president. ?Pilots over the age of 62 will take up to six months of compulsory no pay leave.? Captain Lai also added that the Pilot Advisory Group, a group of Alpa-S volunteers who offer pilots assistance on any personal, domestic, medical or professional matter, is ?ready to lend the necessary support to distressed pilots?. This avenue, available to SIA and SilkAir pilots, and not restricted to members of Alpa-S, has always been available to pilots and has assisted many to date, he said. TODAY also reached out to the Singapore Airlines Staff Union which represents cabin crew. It declined to comment at this time. I bought 2000 shares at $4.77, and not eligible to buy rights shares. So do I need to stop the loss before 21 May or still keep the shares until waiting bulling up ? I don&rsquo t know how dip will be.
