This will tank down further on Monday....This time many will exit this already....cannot fight with Grab....firstly, Grab is already so popular..now it is coming full force to be the largest car rental programme in south east asia...Can we see $1 soon? maybe.....or can even go lower? Trade with caution...cheap can be cheaper.... Another nail in the coffin for Comfort. Very soon, many mourners will surround Comfort' s coffin crying for comfort..... Grab bags US$700m financing, partners SMRT to build region' s ' largest car rental fleet' FRI, OCT 20, 2017 - 2:40 PM RIDE-HAILING company Grab on Friday announced it has secured debt facilities of up to US$700 million and signed an exclusive partnership with SMRT to build the " largest and most advanced (rental) fleet in Singapore" . I think CDG might need to downsize their workforce, besides the fleet size. From the point is a commuter, it is not good to have small taxi fleet size in Singapore, as street hall will be affected and surge proof will be widely used. | ||

my views: there must be a contingence plan in place for all industries, transportation, shipping....etc b4 licences are issued by authorties. any deficiencies due to failure in compliance will certainly affects the economic output and global images. time is $$, it is time for LTA and respective organisations to look into it b4 it happens. |

It is nothing strange about it. Who has attained AAA standard? CDG, Uber or Grab? If emergency occurs, commuters will have to fight to flag down the few miserable taxis we have left (if the taxis fleet continues to dwindle). It is not the first time waitng for problem to happen then solve it, see the MRT, you mean last time nobody knew trains need to be maintained meh? You mean nobody knows the tracks in the tunnel, being built below ground, will flood if the pumps are not maintained? |

Speaking about Grab/Uber, I guess they should have probably covered the gap left by the full-fledged taxis. How about motorbike/scooter Grab/Uber? I believe there is a demand for such service, especially those short distance travellers who are currently using feeder service buses or LRT. An example of a hotspot would be the Kranji MRT to the Woodlands checkpoint. Short distance, but extremely high demand. |

strange, how can the pvt taxi companies invade the transportation (taxi) market without a sop for contingency plan? than they shud not be able to attains AAA status for being reliable in good and unforseen times. if the inforseen scenario will to occur, there are likely to hv a mass confusion. are they waiting for it to happen and than decide how to handle such incident? |

coming back to the subject on taxi, the booking of the pang hong chia by the riders are done thru mobile app via telco data systems. Yes, it is the same as Ba Ong Chia in the 1960s,1970s but book through 3rd apps. what will be the consequences in unforseen event whereby a major breakdwn/distruption to our telco service provider for a period of time? (freak incident happens) It is the same as no reception by any if the telcos, it happens does the pvt taxi companies has any contingency plan? No, if no connection, what can the 3rd ride hailing companies do? Compensate for your loss of time, loss of convenience? No way, wait long long..... what will happen if the the supply of taxi are kept low for street hire? It is happening now and the trend is continuing, it is worrying.... But govt is not doing anything at the moment.... what will happen if the above freak incident happen? i ponder. Nothing is done, and nobody it's doing anything, just like MRT breakdown, nobody did anything when trains were new, now it is too late..... | ||
