MANFREDTMK      ( Date: 30-Jun-2021 22:31) Posted: The Rights issue is set and price wrongly. Based on the current issue of 3 Rights shares at 8 cents per share, for every 2 shares you owned, the ex-right price is 12.44 cents cents.The problem begins. Foreign funds that are not registered in Singapore can't subscribe to the Rights issue. So they have no choice, but to quickly sell now because if they don't, when the share goes ex-right, it will drop to the ex-right price of 12.44. That causes the free fall to 12 cents now. This will trigger another round of force selling in addition to margin calls. Why? Based on 12 cents, the ex-right price adjust further down to 9.6 cents. So better sell now than wait till ex-right and lose another 2.4 cents. This becomes a viscous cycle until price settle around 8.5 cents. All these selling would be avoided if the Rights issue is set correctly. For instance, it can be 1.5 Right shares at 16 cents per share, for every 2 existing shares that you owned, then the ex-right price will be 18.28 cents. In this case, SM still get the same amount $1.5b. But the market price need not fall below 18.28. The Shipbuilding industry has turned around and the Green Energy industry is roaring. The Rights issue strengthens the company, there's no reason for the price to fall 40% to potentially 60% because of the Rights issue, more so, if it's correctly set and priced.

Chartering rates, utilization rates, and dayrates are all shooting up. There are contract extensions and new deployments to Saudi, African coast, South China Sea, Arctic, etc. SMM should be on its COMEBACK story. But SMM mgt and TH mishandling (and neglience) is causing SMM to lose out totally on this wave. Currently, the extremely low stock prices would push away potential customers (lower its chance of winning tenders) and banks may even reduce exisiting and future debts to SMM, thus crippling SMM JUST when it is about to recover. It is likely that the uncertainty and instability that is artifically generated would block SMM from receiving new orders for the rest of the year at least. Such a pity.....such incompetency and idiocy.....
