Yahoo - Is 3am moral policing necessary? Think tank chief asks after raid on Perak inn.
The Malay Mail Online - 3 hours ago KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 ? Nightmare before Christmas for Muslim Wan Saiful Wan Jan, who claimed been rudely woken up at 3.20am by a group of jealous Islamic religious officers on an ?inspection? of a hotel in Parit Buntar, Perak. The chief executive of think tank Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs accused the district Islamic religious office of allegedly violating his privacy where he shared with his mother, by a group of six to seven male officers. ?I think it?s really unfair, this kind of moral policing,? he told Malay Mail Online when contacted today. According to Wan Saiful, he was woken up upon hearing a ?loud knock? in the wee hours of the morning, which he described as ?quite intimidating?, met by a man who flashed a card identifying himself as an officer from the Islamic religious. Wan Saiful tried reasoning as his mother was sleeping, recounting his explanations: ?My mother is elderly, she?s asleep, she?s tired, she?s had a long journey. ?They then insisted on coming in because it?s pemeriksaan,? Malay word meaned inspection. Wan Saiful stressed that the purported officers had ?no warrant?, saying: ?All card which can be made in any shop.? ?There was no way of finding their identity, they were standing there, with the body language of ?I?m coming in. Like it or not?.? He admitted to being initially worried for his safety and his mother?s safety, saying that the men who were all wearing jackets. His concerns were then turned to avoiding a scene and disturbing other hotel guests. ?Not wanting to create a scene, and to be accused of preventing them from doing their job,? he said, fearing that he would be accused or prosecuted for not cooperating. ?Just barging in. It?s not Islamic as well. Wan Saiful said. Believed the religious enforcers were from the local religious authority, checked with hotel staff, morning revealing that the group of men had visited three rooms with the room number ending with ?8?, including his room ? ?308?. When asked would he be lodging a police report over the religious raid without a warrant, Wan Saiful said that he did not intend to turn this into a big issue, but merely wanted other Malaysians to be aware of their rights to privacy. ?I think my real concern is the public must be aware that there may be some wrongdoing happening there and just because people come from religious department doesn?t put them on the right side all the time,? he said. ?The authorities should only invade your privacy if at least they have a warrant that allows them to do so,? he added. For now, Wan Saiful intends to write to the religious authority to voice his dissatisfaction with its officers? conduct, saying that they ?owe? him an explanation for picking his room for the raid. ?I don?t intend to let this off easily,? said Wan Saiful, who was in Parit Buntar was on a speaking engagement. ?I wonder if the authorities have visited five-star hotels where VIPs hang out and if they would treat the hotels the same way,? he said. Wan Saiful said such raids have been often happening in this country and risk leaving a bad impression on foreigners visiting Malaysia. ?It paints a very negative picture of Malaysia. Just imagine if it was a foreign tourist and not me, just imagine what kind of country they will see us (as),? he said, having experienced such a raid for the first time in his life. The management of Melor Inn Hotel.Malay Mail Online was also unable to reach the Islamic Religious Office of Parit Buntar as today is a national public holiday. teeth53 would want to share this n such incident that happened to me several years ago (myself n my Mrs n children n my mother-in-law). Where I booked into two hotel room for overnite stay in Batu Pahat, Malaysia. Johor state. |

Dr M' s highly competent. If he messes up the country' s leadership this way, it' s not due to incompetency, other factors.  Suspect it' s  his personality, remember how he tried to build a half  swing bridge that neatly swings to half the distance between JB and Spore?    Why did such a thought even occur to a competent leader? Didn' t he know  it' s a project doomed for failure before it  even started? Given such irrational thinking and temperament, it' s best for him to keep quiet now, or if he chooses to speak, at least say the things that will help  Msia.          Whether his son  can perform is not for him to even talk about but for the rest of the leaders to decide, so to mention his son is totally unacceptable for a man of great past, simply negate all his  contributions in the eyes of others.

teeth53 thot - Alamak- Talking about his son not becoming Malaysia Premier soon. Why?.
First instant, after he sacked his deputy, Anwar 1st, which he totally dislike for acted like a M'sia premier when ever n where ever he (Anwar is present), next he (Dr M) then after careful selection, he bring up n then later bring down Abdullah after Anwar was released from jail n, Last n not the least. He gladly push n promote Premier Najib who he (Dr M) then under estimated Najib can do, Premier Najib then out wit by consolidated his Premiership power over what is deem as a failure to elect his own son into one of three VP top post. Note: M'sia Premier n Deputy Premier is follow by three top vice-premier So. Who's at fault????. |

BRICS nation n states is trying to save, while U.S. is trying to save their.
Leaving smaller nations n lesser powerful states to look after themself. When Singapore leadership play their card well. Singaporean folks won't hav to worry too much. Fail to foresee, foresee to fail.
