This is the only bank that hasnt pay a special dividend yet..so hopefully with more cash from great eastern stake disposal.. it can reward the shareholder..
Now its quite low.. |

Actually OCBC do share buyback frequntly . ( current mkt situation is very diff due to ONE mad man trade issue ) Separately , OCBC whichI agree is certainly keeping cash / lot of them ( if GE Msia still going ahead or not ) .....are there some target to take over now that CHina govn has confirm opening up its financial sector in 2018 W WH bank digested , I guess OCBC may hv another target to speed up this new strategy in Greater China bay area.

OCBC mention before, they do not do buy back to manage share price. They do buy back to acquire share to give as incentive bonus. So whether price high or low does not matter, they will buy when they need the shares.

Their strategy now seems to be keeping lots of cash..
They didnt declare special dividend like the 2 other banks.. even when they got S$1.126 billion gain from selling its F&N and APB stakes in 2012. So they cld easily do buyback ....particularly when share price is low |

Question is why OCBC did not do share buy back when prices dropped below $12. The last time they did buy back, the price was at $12.38.

$1b profit fm GBA in CHina which OCBC has alrdy setup shop for this growth ....good strategy A longer term 2023 its profit cld easily cross $5B a year . It current bk value alrdy 9.33 DYODD Happy investing. |
