My humble advise, Plan your exit and just cut lost.
Frankly, even if the share price do go up, it is definitely not the real... There are still other good counters that can help you to recover your losses.. My 2cts worth Dyodd ( do your own due diligence)

Malaysia yes but it is too near and most people will travel by land instead. Long-haul flight is where the money comes from because not only because of the fare difference, the turn-around time for short or long flights is the same. Chinese tourist is important because they usually come as a family, some even 3 generations or a few families together and they have money to spend as compared to the AngMo lol.

Supposing you predict that SIA shares will be at $3.50 when all the new shares come into the market, don't buy now unless the rights drop below $0.50...and so on. You need to guess. Or just wait till then. Or just don't touch (you are much better off then one 'Expert' whom I think was vested at least $8 or above)

American Express Global Business Travel, seeing its sales more than halved from the pandemic, could now also lose out on a purchase by private equity firm Carlyle Group and Singapore-based GIC, a sovereign wealth fund. The two firms are reportedly backing out and claiming AmEx had violated several of the terms of the agreement, sources said. In a Delaware court filing last week, the firms claimed AmEx had been planning to use the investment to fund operating losses. AmEx denied that. The deal, planned to happen for $5 billion including debt, was announced in December and supposed to close Thursday. But in April, that started to crumble when Carlyle began to think that the coronavirus-related shutdowns and effects on the travel industry could constitute a &ldquo material adverse effect.&rdquo Carlyle&rsquo s position was that the travel industry would be near worthless, which AmEx didn&rsquo t agree with. But a Carlyle spokesperson said the company was &ldquo seeking a judicial confirmation that we have no obligation to close the transaction.&rdquo A third party acting on behalf of the sellers has filed suit to try and compel Carlyle and GIC to go through with the deal anyway. The company isn&rsquo t party to the dispute. A spokesperson for AmEx Global Business Travel said the backing-out of GIC and Carlyle &ldquo neither impacts GBT&rsquo s ability to manage through the current environment nor constrains any future opportunity.&rdquo

Temasik, together with another company. is trying to get out of a potential purchase of (20%) of American Express. Currently, the law suit is lodged with a court in Delaware, USA. If the law suit is lost, it will be another hole in Tamasik' s purse.

With so many adverse factors facing SIA, to be able to dig itself out of the hole is nearly impossible. Those who are currently invested in SIA, Good Luck.

I think Malaysia will be next few in line. Malaysia is Singapore second largest trading partner. Many of my Singaporean friends have businesses in Malaysia. Now all tio stuck, cannot go back and run factories.

Just my own prediction. I think the first regular long-haul flight by SIA will be to China. The two countries will open borders exclusively to each other. China''s Covid crisis will be over soon. Singapore too. But if we look around, who else, New Zealand maybe.
We need China''s tourists and food supplies. China only needs our friendship. It is very obvious that China and Singapore are at best relationship at present. Eyes can see. Heavy-weight Minister's like Chan Chun Seng are involved in normal bilateral commercial signing ceremony. And we get presents like the all important masks from China. Frankly, I was very worried when our armour cars got detained by HK just because of one stupid idiot. But now the incident seems to have been forgotten by both countries. |
