Haha, Clement is probably crying over all the shares he sold before the huge medtecs rally. If not he would be a multi millionaire now can retire already, don' t even need to bother about the salary.

Once TH SCI/SMM de-merger exercise ended, should take a real closer look why a constantly lost making SMM CEO Wong WS is worth being paid $1.825m in 2019. While SCI CEO Neil only $1.522m? A merger with Keppel O& M will immediately save millions. Comparatively Medtecs CEO Clement max only $250,000 for last year  . Wonder how much will he be paid for 2020. |

Agreed, rights issue and demerger plan is to get SCM into better position and then shareholders all panicked and sell the shares below 20cents? Temasek will be the major shareholder and allow it to sink or come back with a plan when all panicked sellers are out? Let's think for a while. I personally think SCM will be a high risk, high returns stock in the next two to three years. But the ways up are more than the ways down, not to mention that Temasek are picking up those offers that the Shareholders are putting up for sales. Dyodd.

I see the share mkt as quite a perfect market with good information. If rights subscription price is 20c for an SCM share, i domnt tgink any rationale SCM shareholder wld sell his SCM shares below 20c

yea its always best to subscribe and make decision on last day, thats why i said if below 20c in next 1-2 weeks, no one will subscribe and all will just scoop from open market below 20c

I was going through SMM H2 2020 financial results, their UK offshore wind farm project is very interesting. They leverage on their off shore O& M expertist and transform it into an offshore wind farm. I thought that is very innovative. I think at least SMM tried their best to move into new areas instead of being a sitting duck.. |

I don't know abt them, but I'll tell you what I will do.
Use the funds for planned excess rights to purchase from open market @ below 20cts.
Wait till last day to pay for rights for the funds set aside for taking up the rights.
If SMM is still under 20 cts, then deploy funds to buy from open market amt of shares equal to allocated.
Makes sense?

Every single shareholders who bought SCM is losing money right now, since SCM is currently at all time low of 22.5 cents. Yes, it's at ALL TIME LOW. The demerger plan is meant to save it, not to destroy it. Meaning a better financial position for SCM, and enable it to secure more contracts going into the future. But, since the plan announced, the share price is one way directon downwards. Well, it's for one to think why and any particular reasons that we don't even know. The small retail investors are losing money, the institutional investors are losing money, the SCM directors and maybe the staff and managers who also may have the shares are losing money and of course, Temasek is losing money. So, this will be the results of the whole demerger plan meant for the shareholders? Well ... We shall see how it play out. Seriously, I think there's more things that we don't know when just looking at the surface. Maybe I am wrong. Only the future will tell how it is going to play out. Dyodd. It will also depends on how much is SCM worth going into the next two weeks. If SCM maintains its price level or pushed up, the free SCM shares will be worth more and seems more ppl will be buying into SCI to get those distributions. We don't know what's the exact amt we will receive till 11th Sept, but sure we will get more payment if SCM shares are worth at higher prices. Both SCI and SCM will still be linked in terms of its share price till the whole demerger plan ends. See if tomorrow SCI will recover from Friday's drop. One day up, one day down.... But shld be uptrend till the cum distribution date. Still under $2.00 presently. Dyodd. Vested. | ||||

Wow...there seems to be a sense of urgency...unsure what is the urgency... Everything like happens at a blink of an eye....I think this whole episode was planned last year since the announcement of KC and T' s plan...then the new SCI CEO & etc.... really chop chop....

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Agree on all the points of a consolidated entity...economy of scale, synergy, enhanced competitiveness , etc.
But the impact of this on SMM share price will come later, as opposed to the immediate positive impact on Keppel Corp's share price. In other words, Kep Corp SHs stand to gain more immediately than SMM SHs. SMM will need to get their act together, compete w China/ S Korea, and win new projects bf seeing any positive effects on its share price. Kep Corp doesn't have to so much as lift a finger.LOL
