Yup, the dividend payout ratio can be between 70-90%...  So, exactly the qns I guess any logical investor will ask is how long can the music go on... and whether it is sustainable...  Do note however that Singtel has mentioned they are planning to equalise their stake in Airtel with the Mittals.. that alone would unlock another 8-10billion... so maybe there is some wiggle room to continue VRD beyond 2028...  Whatever the case, I do believe that mgmt is working to increase the dividends to pre-pandemic levels, and reduce the VRD component as the core component increases...

Assume 10 percent increase in underlying profit a year.
By 2028, the dividends combined can reach 16 plus 6 equals 22 cents a year!

DIVIDENDS The Directors have proposed a final one-tier tax exempt ordinary dividend of 10.0 cents per share, totalling approximately S$1.65 billion for the current financial year ended 31 March 2025. The dividend consists of: (a) a core dividend of 6.7 cents per share and (b) a value realisation dividend of 3.3 cents per share. Including the interim core dividend of 5.6 cents per share, the total core dividend of 12.3 cents per share represents a payout ratio of 82% of underlying net profit. Together with the interim value realisation dividend of 1.4 cents, the aggregate ordinary dividends for the current financial year ended 31 March 2025 would increase by 13% to 17.0 cents per share (FY2024: 15.0 cents per share), totalling approximately S$2.81 billion. this was from the recent result reported ....already at 82% ...NOTE core dividend is only 6.7c +5.6c total 12.3c  Really wonder how much more can it goes ....beside selling more asset ?

Yes, it was just an assumption... Lower payout ratio means they need higher underlying profit... But I also dunno what is their target for ST28

You did correctly point out the share bb.......HOWEVER, please note the high payout ratio .  Which other STI component pyout so high .....banks not even above 70%  Can Sinktel continue w this payout ratio........NOT forgetting IF they dont sell off more asset . ( this tome was 1.55B ...continue selling off assets yearly ? )  W this high payout ratio ....doubt any more serious investment ( telco bz need to continue to invest and catch up w Tech changes)  I really doubt they can hit the past dividened WO any sale of assets  DYODD

I m quite happy with the results... In line with market expectations... But I' m most pleased with the share buyback program (" SBP" ).  Most people are still skeptical of Singtel... I.e. what happens after VRD in 2028? Without the VRD what will the dividends be like? Hence, with the SBP, it also serves to reduce the no. of shares... $2 billion can buyback 500 million shares today... Eg, if the target is to return to pre-pandemic dividends of 17.5 cents without VRD component, then the underlying profit they must get would be: 1. Current no. of shares 16.5 billion 16.5 billion x 17.5 cents @ 90% payout ratio = $3.2 billion They need an underlying profit of $3.2 billion to pay out 17.5 cents 2. Reduced no of shares due to SBP 16 billion 16 billion x 17.5 cents @ 90% payout ratio = $3.1 billion They need a lower underlying of $3.1 billion to pay out 17.5 cents Well, they' re at $2.5 billion in 2025 so still quite some way to go to $3.1 billion by 2028 Hence, the share buyback program is a very shrewd move that can serve many purposes, to return capital to shareholders, increase liquidity, support share price, reward long term shareholders by making their shares more valuable, etc... |

Singtel FY2025 earnings surge to $4.02 bil launches $2 bil share buy back programme

Boosted by a $1.55 billion gain from the partial divestment of its headquarters, Singapore Telecommunicationshas reported FY2025 earnings of $4.02 billion, up 405% y-o-y.

Singtel' s underlying net profit for the year ended March 31, which excludes the exceptional items, is up 9% y-o-y to $2.47 billion.

The gains were led by operational improvements in units especially Optus, its subsidiary in Australia, as well as from NCS, its IT services unit and also regional mobile associates in India and Thailand.

The company plans to pay a final dividend of 10 cents, bringing its full-year payout to 17 cents, beating the preceding FY2024' s 15 cents and slightly above the 16.5 cents guided.

" Our focus on execution has lifted overall business performance and our cost optimisation efforts further aligned spending with our business objectives, improving the efficiency of our resources that have been freed up for future growth,&rdquo says group CEO Yuen Kuan Moon.

However, he warns that macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainties caused by volatility in tariff policies persist.

Even so, Singtel is guiding for the EBIT of the current FY, excluding associates, to grow in the " high single digits" .

" We remain confident in our business diversity, fundamentals and growth opportunities such as digitalisation and AI, and stand ready to adapt and respond to the changing business environment," he adds.

This time last year, Singtel announced a $6 billion mid-term asset recycling target and has achieved more than half of this target. Singtel is now raising this target to $9 billion.

Besides the partial divestment of Comcentre, its headquarters, Singtel has been unlocking value via other means such as regular trimming of its stake in its listed India mobile associate Bharti Airtel.

These moves have helped Singtel shares gain renewed interest in the investment community, with a gain of around 60% in the past 12 months.

As a refinement of its capital management efforts, Singtel plans to buy back $2 billion worth of shares over three years.

The share buyback is on top of the so-called value realisation dividends that Singtel is committed to paying - essentially taken from proceeds of asset recycling, minus off capex required for new growth such as data centres.

&ldquo Our value realisation share buyback programme reflects the robustness of our capital management approach and balance sheet," says group CFO Arthur Lang.

" Together with our dividend policy which includes the value realisation dividends, this move reflects our confidence in the group&rsquo s long-term value and our commitment to deliver sustained value for shareholders," he adds.
