U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to impose 200% tariffs on French wines and champagne, as French President Emmanuel Macron is reportedly set to refuse joining his &ldquo Board of Peace&rdquo on Gaza. When asked for a response by a reporter in Miami, Trump said &ldquo Well, nobody wants him because he&rsquo s going to be out of office very soon. So you know, that&rsquo s all right. But he doesn&rsquo t have to join.&rdquo The Board of Peace is a global body endorsed by the United Nations Security Council in November last year, established to oversee the Israel-Hamas ceasefire. CNMC Goldmine Holdings Scale up, grade up, cash up SINGAPORE|MINING| UPDATE &bull The 60% CIL facility expansion has seen increased production of gold from 500 to 800 tonnes per day. Work on the additional Sokor underground gold mining facility is underway and is expected to be completed by 1H26. We believe management is keen to increase shareholder returns through dividends if earnings exceed expectations. &bull The additional Sokor underground mining facility is expected to be completed by 1H26. The site is located in Malaysia&rsquo s tropical rainforest, which is more prone to water accumulation issues due to the terrain. If water accumulation issues persist, completion is likely in 2H26 with operations beginning 2027. &bull We raise our gold price forecast by 13% to US$4,300 (Prev: US$3,800) due to the current gold price surging 21% above the previous forecast. PATMI has been raised by 6.6% in FY26e. Key catalysts include i) earlier than anticipated completion of the additional Sokor Underground mining facility, ii) a higher dividend payout ratio. (Current payout ratio: 30%). We maintain our BUY rating with a higher target price of S$1.47 (Prev: S$1.34), implying a 11.2x FY25e P/E. Our valuation remains conservative, as no terminal value has been factored in, given that the mining permit is valid until 2034. Key Highlights + The completed 60% CIL plant expansion has successfully increased daily throughput capacity from 500 to 800 tonnes per day. Operations are running at full expanded capacity with production continuity materially improved. The expanded configuration allows uninterrupted processing even during maintenance or unexpected downtime in any of the processing circuits due to the dual circuit system. Recent production uplift has been supported by improved gold recovery rates from the expanded CIL processing facility. While CNMC employs grade blending to smooth output variability, we remain conservative given the inherent volatility of ore grades. + Development of the additional Sokor underground mining facility is progressing with guided capex of RM15m - RM20m (S$4m - S$6m), and expected revised completion timeline of 1H26 (previously 2025). The possible delay stems from water accumulation issues arising from the site' s tropical rainforest terrain. There is likely delay to 2H26 completion if water management issues persist, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2027. We view the emphasis on underground mining as a natural progression after a decade of open-pit mining. The cost premium is supported by materially higher ore grades from underground deposits, which can offset higher mining and extraction costs. + With the strength in earnings and peak in capex, there is room to increase the dividend payout ratio from the 30% target level, contingent on sustained cash flow generation and capex requirements. The company operates a two-tier framework: interim dividends, which provide income stability, supplemented by special dividends during periods of strong profitability. As seen in Figure 1, the dividend per share has increased significantly from 0.2 cents in FY22 to 1.4 cents in FY24, a 7x increase that reflects improving operational performance and cash flow generation. 1H25 dividends of 1.5 cents per share have already exceeded FY24&rsquo s full-year payout. With sufficient cash (1H25 net cash: US$37.3m) to fund near-term capex without the need for external financing, we see dividend enhancement as a realistic scenario. 18 January 2026
