This happens when (1) there is low fatality rate for C+ (2) there is ready off-the-shelf medication to treat C+.   In other words, when COVID-19 is like the normal influenza.   As at now, condition (1) is valid in Singapore provided ICU capacity is adequate.   Not sure about condition (2) - that should be something our MTF is working on.

According to the Minister, A&E and normal wards are already over-loaded and patients have to be sent home to 'recover'. Tan Tok Seng is building wards in the carparks. Manpower to handle the checks, testing, treatment, nursing etc are strained to the now. The main part of the check which were supposed to start last Monday 13 Sep weekly just cannot start because of shortage of manpower. How many people are waoting for the check? Maybe half a million, and once a week! Take a look of China, people needed no masks already for the last nearly one year. New Zealand still take pride of her strict and successful control. Hk is probably frowning at us everyday. Want to have a bubble holiday with HK? They dont event want to talk! Ow we only have 1,000 a day. What if we have 3,200 cases a day and the number is maintainrd for one month? Can we just give up checking and testing and declare zero case and report it to WHO

With the large majority of COVID-19 patients settled via home recovery, the risk to manage are those unvaccinated minority who have higher chance of developing serious illness requiring oxygenation or ICU.  Buiding up our ICU capacity while nudging all to be vaccinated over next 2-3 months will allow us to celebrate Christmas a much happier nation

But now we know that the vaccines available cannot bring about a herd immunity, while Covid patients who have recovered from it are also not immune, there is no reasons why we would see a bell curve happening. This has not happened in any country which DANCE WITH THE VIRUS! The only way to cut the virus off is by strict quarantine as we have seen in China, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Only after cutting it off we can LIVE WITH IT if it does comes back in small pockets on and off from time to time. Singapore will need another Circuit Breaker to cut off the virus. This was done with good results last year. Wrong idea since then had led to wrong policies and the sad situation today. The earlier the gov realises that relying on vaccine is not a solution the better it will be for Singapore.
