Could be earlier .  Looking at the demand and speed of progress for clean energy . SCI has become one of the better company to partner in this region  Couple w ESG loan etc, SCI has very quickly build a name for itself from its past .    Tgt w Temasek as the main supporting shareholders .....I would not be surprise , SCI can become a major player in this region .  Dyodd

Slowly and steadily meeting its target and likely before targeted deadline. And if all of this translates into good profits 2-3 years later, SCI would have gone beyond $3.

SEMBCORP INDUSTRIES AND BCG ENERGY SIGN COLLABORATION AGREEMENT FOR UP TO 1.5GW OF RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS IN VIETNAM Singapore, December 9, 2021 &ndash Sembcorp Utilities, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) and BCG Energy (BCGE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bamboo Capital Group (BCG), announce today that they have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of renewable projects in Vietnam. BCG is one of the pioneers in Vietnam&rsquo s renewable energy industry with strong knowledge of the local market and has extensive experience in developing large scale infrastructure projects. Sembcorp has invested in Vietnam for more than 20 years through its integrated energy and urban management expertise, and is looking to scale up its renewables portfolio in the country. Sembcorp&rsquo s Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) is also a leading name in integrated townships and industrial parks in Vietnam. Under the collaboration, Sembcorp and BCGE will leverage each other&rsquo s strengths and resources to identify and jointly develop a pipeline of up to 1.5GW of wind and solar projects in Vietnam. The first phase of the collaboration will involve an initial funding of US$30 million for the development of a 550MW portfolio of utility-scale nearshore and onshore wind assets across three provinces in Vietnam, namely in Ca Mau, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang. These projects have been secured by BCGE and are expected to come online by end of 2022. In the latest draft of its eighth national power development plan (PDP VIII), Vietnam has prioritised the development of renewable energy sources. The draft PDP VIII includes increasing the country&rsquo s solar and wind capacity to about 21.4GW and 12.5GW by 2030 respectively Another good project for SCI ....look like it is building up it clean energy base all over the region /  really the journey has been good since cutting off the SM son.  Dyodd

Sembcorp to acquire 658MW of wind, solar assets in China for 3.3b yuan

SEMBCORP Industries Sembcorp Ind: U96 0% will acquire 98 per cent interest in a portfolio of operational wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) assets in China for 3.3 billion yuan (S$700 million).

Its wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp Energy (Shanghai) Holding has signed a sale-and-purchase agreement to acquire the assets from CGN Capital Partners Infrastructure Fund III - a private equity infrastructure fund focused on renewable energy infrastructure assets in China - and its affiliates.

The assets are located in energy demand centres Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces and have a total gross installed capacity of 658 megawatts (MW).

The portfolio will provide Sembcorp with a scalable renewable platform to drive further growth in China, Sembcorp said in a press statement on Friday (Nov 12).

Sembcorp noted that the assets are contracted and eligible for fixed feed-in tariffs under China' s renewable energy policy.

Alex Tan, Sembcorp' s chief executive officer of China, said the mainland is a priority growth market for the group, being the world' s largest renewables market.

Noting that Sembcorp' s renewables portfolio of wind and solar assets in China will double in gross capacity to 1,400MW from 725MW post acquisition, he said: " This scalable platform will boost our growth in China and support the building of our operational and technical capabilities."

The acquisition will be funded through a mix of internal cash resources and external borrowings, and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022, subject to conditions precedent including regulatory approvals.

The deal is not expected to have a material impact on Sembcorp' s earnings per share and net asset value for its financial year ending Dec 31, 2021.

But China can be very unpredictable and the track record of foreign investments has not been very good. CCP would prefer giving contracts to their own home-grown companies.

They can do an IPO of its Indian operations if they really need the money. I guess SCI is waiting for the red hot Indian stock market to get even more exuberant before doing so.

Technically SCI has already entered a ST down trend. That' s my reading. So when I saw this news I wasn' t expecting it to go up. Unfortunately I have been proven right. Hahaha. The things is I think 700m is internal fund + loan? SCI has a pretty high debt to equity ratio. Although this is a characterisitcs of its business, it' s bordering a bit on " undesirable" for most definition. But no doubt this is the direction SCI is going. Green. DYODD.

SEMBCORP INDUSTRIES TO ACQUIRE 658MW OF OPERATIONAL WIND AND SOLAR ASSETS IN CHINA - The Group is well-positioned for significant growth in the world&rsquo s largest renewable energy market Singapore, November 12, 2021 &ndash Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) announces that it has, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp Energy (Shanghai) Holding Co. Ltd, signed a sale and purchase agreement to acquire a 98% interest in a portfolio of operational wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) assets from CGN Capital Partners Infrastructure Fund III and its affiliates for a consideration (net of external debt financing) of approximately RMB 3.3 billion (approximately S$700 million). CGN Capital Partners Infrastructure Fund III is an unlisted private equity infrastructure fund focused on renewable energy infrastructure assets in China. The portfolio of wind and solar assets with a total gross installed capacity of 658MW will provide Sembcorp with a scalable renewable platform to drive further growth in China. Located in energy demand centres Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces, the assets are contracted and are eligible for fixed feed-in tariffs under the China renewable energy policy. For more information on the portfolio, please see the Appendix. Wong Kim Yin, Group President & CEO, Sembcorp Industries said: &ldquo The acquisition of this renewables growth platform in China is an important step towards our target to have 10GW of gross installed renewables capacity by 2025. We are focused on the execution of our growth strategy across our markets to achieve our brown to green transformation.&rdquo 2 Alex Tan, CEO China, Sembcorp Industries added: &ldquo China is the world&rsquo s largest renewables market, and a priority growth market for Sembcorp. With this acquisition, our renewables portfolio in China will double in gross capacity from 725MW to 1,400MW of wind and solar assets. This scalable platform will boost our growth in China and support the building of our operational and technical capabilities.&rdquo The consideration for the transaction was determined on a willing-buyer willing-seller basis, considering the operational quality, financials and cashflow generation of the assets via customary valuation techniques. The final consideration would be adjusted based on the audited financials at completion of the transaction. Sembcorp&rsquo s investment will be funded through a mix of internal cash resources and external borrowings. Completion of the acquisition is expected in the first half of 2022, and is subject to conditions precedent including regulatory approvals. This acquisition is in the ordinary course of business of Sembcorp Industries and is not expected to have a material impact on the earnings per share and net asset value per share of Sembcorp Industries for the financial year ending December 31, 2021.    | ||||
