I think Ezra is not going to pay them despite their demands because if it pays one, the rest will follow suit. The creditors are also hesitating to wind Ezra up because 1) Ezra does not have much cash left, 2) time and legal expenses and 3) ECS just got a small infusion from Chiyoda and Subsea7 so they might take a wait and see approach.

BT understands that the stay order will apply to a winding-up petition that will be heard on Friday in Singapore against Emas AMC Pte Ltd, a key subsidiary responsible for ECS' s operations. The stay order that was passed after a Wednesday evening hearing also extends to four other subsidiaries of ECS, namely Lewek Constellation Pte Ltd, Lewek Falcon Pte Ltd, Emas Chiyoda ROV Pte Ltd and Emas Chiyoda Subsea Services Pte Ltd. This marks a rare occasion during which the court exercises its inherent jurisdiction to grant a stay order that mirrors the US Chapter 11 automatic stay, which offers debtor company protection from litigation. Under Singapore' s legal framework, a stay order is generally granted to an insolvent company after it enters an application for judicial management or if it applies for the stay in provision for a scheme of arrangement. BT has learnt that ECS has sought a stay order with the High Court after putting in a Chapter 11 application partly because its largest bank lenders are based in Singapore. DBS Bank and OCBC Bank have unsecured claims totalling almost US$100 million against ECS.
