SINGAPORE' s stock market is trading at levels not seen in years, with small capitalisation and oil and gas stocks leading the plunge. Kevin Scully, executive chairman of independent research house NRA Capital, said it is hard to find value in Singapore yet. In the meantime, oil and gas counters are facing financing and solvency issues and global hedge funds are likely shorting local banks, he said. " We are just at the start of a long overdue correction. If you look at further US dollar strength and more capital flows out of Asia, the Singapore market will continue to underperform ... The index is going to go to 2,700 points first and then we' ll see," he said.

At current attractive price of $2.38, the dividend payout is $120 / 2380 = 5%! Amazing, among one of the highest dividend payout counter in SGX. |

if really falls all the way to $2 or better still below $2,, it' s time to seriously consider to load some with cash and a little more with cpf and keep it warm warm under a pillow, mattress or somewhere cosy and let it ride out the storm........ sooner or later oil has to shore up again, because no matter what we humans discover be it shale, gas or whatever, the good old black gold will still be around for a very long, long time. No doubt about that........ at least in our lifetime ....... cheers!!!

2Q15 results below expectations as earnings slumped 17% y/y to $109.2m, on a 9.9% drag in revenue to $1.21b, as well as share of associate and JV losses of $2.6m (2Q14: $9m). The decline in revenue was mainly due to a fall in rig building projects (-28.7% to $622.6m), pared by gains in offshore and conversion (+36% to $401.8m) and repair (+10.6% to $165.7m) segments. This resulted in 1H earnings of $215.1m, 42.6% of street full-year estimates. Order book stood at $10.9b (1Q15: $10.6b), with YTD order wins of $1.4b ($0.4b in 2Q). Interim DPS was cut to $0.04 (2Q14: $0.05). |

Deutsche Bank feels that SMM&rsquo s order is more of a special, one-off contract. It also questions how many of such contracts can be won again in the current environment. The research house remains cautious on the offshore and marine industry in Singapore as prospects remain challenging. It notes that the offshore rig market is oversupplied and both Keppel and SMM are exposed to country-specific risks. As such, the research house maintains its Hold and Sell calls on Keppel (TP: $8.80) and SMM (TP: $2.50) respectively. |
