I personally think TH is going to merge SMM and Keppel O& M. They know that fighting each other is futile, and given the dire Singapore economic and jobs situation, they need economies of scale to survive. Else, there will be massive job losses in Singapore should both go down. And these are people with such specialised skills, they will not be employable anywhere else. It was likely going to be Keppel buying up SMM. But, now that things have turned - likely the other way around. DYODD and this is all conjecture on my part.

There are some negative input here ......which I wish to offer my POSITIVE input on both counters. ( for investment not abt those on trade only ) SCI is a better counter after the demerger ...much stronger n PROFITABLE w energy n other bz like waste mgt n infrastructure too. catalyst is the LISTING of its India energy side which one analyse code $1.75 SMM is carried by T at 0.20 cost .....how much can it drop is your own guess. Past shareholders even w the rights will have a higher cost then 0.20 So unless u see all of them selling ? Further SMM wld be a clean energy compnay which is growth sector . Yes can be longer term who knows. Is oil forever below $40 > and will oil rig return in the coming future ? Oil will be needed /new rigs are needed and beside Kep O& M , SMM is one of the stronger builder in the world ....once rig order starts....will SMM b 30c, 40c ....DYODD Happy investing. |
