" Calling all Taxi Drivers&rsquo Vocational License (TDVL) and Private Hire Car Drivers&rsquo Vocational License (PDVL) applicants!
 
The Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) will be a new test centre for you starting 4 Dec 2017. We have also appointed ComfortDelGro (CDG) Taxi as a new training provider from 29 Nov 2017.
 
e2i and CDG will pool together their expertise to provide vocational license training with a rigorous and up-to-date test curriculum.
 
And psst, a friendly reminder for all PDVL applicants! If you had applied for your PDVL before 1 July, remember to attend the course early to pass all tests by 30 Jun 2018 to continue providing chauffeured private hire car services. For applicants who applied on or after 1 July, you will only be able to provide private hire car services after obtaining the PDVL.
 
Providing chauffeured private hire car services without a PDVL or a LTA concession letter is an offence under the Road Traffic Act, and drivers may be barred from holding a PDVL."
 
There are many PHVs' drivers who still have not PDVL yet, whether these drviers will coninue driving PHVs or not, the effect can be seen after Jun 2018. This is definitely negative to Grab and Uber.
 
Will this boost CFD' s income?

 Alert Admin 		Your classmate? Probably from a school that produces scholars after scholars. How to change when they are just " volunteers" , titanium rice bowls, with straight A' s that they obtained decades ago? Funny thing is CDG share price is quite resilient and because of this there is even less impetus to change.

I had a class gathering two weeks ago and happened to meet one of the ex classmate who is holding a director level position in CDG (I don' t know why we graduated from the same school but he is so high position now...hahahaha). I am not close to him, in fact this is the first time I spoke to him after more than 20 years. I asked him on the company strategies to counter the current problems. From the conversation with him, I would like to share some general directions CDG is following. 
1) To the public, CDG seems to be doing nothing but according to him, CDG is actively doing quite a few things but he said he doesn' t know (I feel like he more like didn' t want to tell me). Even he is not kept in the progress of CDG-Uber alliance as he said this is only CEO/President level then know. 
2) I asked him really got 3000 CDG taxi drivers (TDs) jump ship in Sep/Oct, he replied YES. But added that it translate to only about 1000+ return taxis because each taxi has about 1.6 drivers (main hirer plus relief). He also mentioned that newspaper only mentioned CDG TDs joining Grab, but they are many UBER/GRAB drivers who return to driving taxis after their earlier contracts (not the Sep/Oct ones), he cannot give me the number but he estimated is in the hundreds.
3) On the reasons why TDs return to CDG after driving for Grab, common reasons were incentives were gradually reduced by Grab after the initial honey moon period. Accounts being suspended or banned because TDs do not accept low paying jobs, Grab' s passengers are difficult (calculative and stingy etc...) He also said that the CDG drivers who stick with CDG actually get MORE bookings as there are fewer CDG TDs now.
4) With the above information on hand, he was in the opinion that it is FINE to let the drivers go because he (I am not sure if this represents CDG' s position) felt that the drivers will come back after 6 months, his reason is CDG has tons of bad experience managing TDs according to him TDs are one of the most difficult creatures on planet earth. All the problems faced by commuters last time (TDs cherry picking passengers and disappears before 12 midnight) WILL happen to Grab drivers sooner or later and he is VERY confident GRAB CANNOT control these TDs and PHVs drivers too. 
5) Those taxis in the backyard are due for scrape in the year end, the difference is now CDG has MORE to scrape, but if necessary, CDG will scrape those taxis earlier to save on rd tax, insurance and get back balanced COEs, most of the taxis are FULLY PAID for by renting out in the previous years. But CDG will replace with fewer taxis in the future.

 Alert Admin 		Both my sis co switch from comfort to grab liao.....less people call..lots of them use grab app to grab taxi if they wan taxi...lots of comfort drivers also taking grab call...but if grab set a 30% acceptance rate..they might not able to hit...they either stick with cimfort or join grab as full time...rem grab going to launch grabsmrt taxi very soon..rental msy be super attractive

 Alert Admin 		Taxi ceo hold a meeting with the drivers recently...give them $8 rebate and sign a contract till feb 2018..many took up the offer with a free chicken bao/ currypuff...another still got 7400 sonata taxi going to convert in sep...rental will increase 30% for new taxi
..big $$$ if all drivers convert..no more $90 rental

.all $126 ...but next year bo this lobang if all convert...how?
Grab doing better than uber...so can hope but may not help much...comfort wont wan to give us $5 off per trip..
But always rem..comfort still got bus and mrt...steady good income

 Alert Admin 		wont be striaght line up.. funds playing today and hopefully tomorrow..let go tomorrow if it goes up further.. THan wait for correction than buy back lower.. the in out difference over a few times can cover your losses significantly.. Holding and waiting for the cow to come back quite be quite tough sometimes mentally.
