DBS: Bags S$18b of foreign currency bond deals in

2013. DBS's S$18b worth of foreign-currency bond deals so far this year is largely

made up of US dollar-denominated and renminbi bonds, which is three times more than

its Singapore dollar-denominated bond sales of S$6.1b. Year to date, in the US dollar

space, DBS has handled 24 deals worth US$11.6b. Last year it was 16 deals worth

US$8.1b. DBS has arranged bond deals for clients beyond the region such as Turkey's

Chip Eng Seng: Purchases freehold property at 420 St

Kilda Road, Melbourne for A$45.28m. Its subsidiary, CES roperties

(Aus) Pty Ltd, in Australia has entered into an agreement to purchase a fully tenanted

freehold office building located at 420 St Kilda Road, Melbourne with a land area of

2,286sqm. The said property has a total net lettable area of 10,528sqm and has 135

basement car parking lots. The legal completion for the said purchase is in Mar 14.

CIVMEC: Darwin Operations secures major project. Its

subsidiary, Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd announced its first major award

for its Darwin operations following its expansion into the Northern Territory of Australia

earlier this year. As a result of this award, combined with recent awards which include

Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities precast works, construction of a air gas

liquefaction plant for BOC Ltd and the fabrication of structural steel as part of the Perth

Airport Terminal 1 expansion, the orderbook now stands at S$386m. (Source: CIVMEC)

Far East Organization: Its unit tops bids for Gambas

Crescent Parcel 3. Its unit Grow-Tech Properties has placed the top bid of

S$39.333m, or S$102.20 psf ppr, for a 1.4-ha, a 2.5 plot ratio and zoned for Business 1

use industrial site, Parcel 3 at Gambas Crescent, in the Woodlands/Sembawang area.

The said site is being sold on 30-year leasehold tenure. The next highest offer of

S$84.45 psf ppr comes from First Shine Management Services Pte Ltd. (Source: The

Lum Chang: Buys UK property for almost £30m. Pembridge

Palace Propco Limited (PPPL) has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with

Purple Sky Sarl on 9 Dec 13, to acquire the freehold property (of approximately 30,099

sq ft) located at 52 to 57 Prince's Square, London W2 4QB, for a consideration of

£25.99m (S$52m), plus value-added tax of approximately £5.2m. The proposed

acquisition is expected to take place on 13 Jan 14. Lum Chang Orion, a subsidiary of

Lum Chang Holdings, has incorporated two wholly-owned subsidiaries in Jersey,

Channel Islands, namely Pembridge Palace Holdco Limited (PPHL) and PPPL, both

ThaiBev: S& P cuts its rating to below investment grade.

S& P on 9 Nov 13 downgraded ThaiBev's long-term corporate rating from BBB- to BB+,

two weeks after placing the company on CreditWatch negative to reflect the revised

ratings criteria, including viewing ThaiBev as a core and " partially insulated" member of

a corporate group that also comprises Fraser and Neave (F& N) and TCC Assets. S& P

added that the group as a whole is " highly leveraged" , mostly due to TCC Assets' debt

burden as a result of the F& N takeover. While acknowledging that Thai-Bev and F& N

had substantially stronger cash flow and considerably lower debt than the consolidated

group, S& P nevertheless argued that ThaiBev's financial performance and funding

prospects could not be entirely dissociated from the group. (Source: The Business
