Look at how well coordinated the stock is moving, it appreciation is controlled by BB in a controlled path. Basically unless u plan to hold then u get the 6% bonus else better off punting other stocks. |

IF global stock market take a turn for the worst and they do a major correction 15%, sending STI crashing to 2500 in 2016. Then CMA offer would make lot of sense actually, in fact they might be over paying lol. Can buy lot of cheap cheap high quality STI stock when that happen, DBS/UOB/OCBC all tgt when crash happen so their stock price would hurt the most since higher STI weightage now.

u can save broker fee too if u sign off the offer letter, that is some future money saved for ur CNY and new year celebration. i believed the approval would come in Feb-Mar time and just in time for AGM. CMA and Temasek had to move fast on this merger before any surprise pop and spoilt the party. |

Over congested or capacity market will not recover peacefully. need to see blood, wipe out and consolidation to make every single person in the industry to feel the pain, then will change.  Look at US motor vehicle industry in 2008, top 3, 1 gone, 1 bailed out by gov. US aviation industry, the top 1 file bankruptcy and merge with another one. After the consolidation, all will shake hand and control the capacity, fee and expansion.  We still didn' t heard about bankruptcy, consolidation is on going buy very slow, I foresee bankruptcy will happen soon with such terrible over capacity.

Agree with you if you had the cash (and the patience) this is a good deal. The only factor, I believe,  that can derail it is the anti-trust/regulatory factor. Once this is given, the process has to go on to its conclusion. Nobody can come in now even with a bigger bid.  From whom  will they get the shares? TH already committed its shares to CMA. The way I read it is, once the anti-trust is approved, TH surrenders its shares to CMA and the offer becomes unconditional. CMA will have to buy the remaining 33% shares from us at 1.30.

It might be a good idea too since currently global market sentiment very badly with big players waiting on side for massive short on emergingstock market once the Fed start to raise rate. 1H16 might see bloodshed all over asia, well nol most likely sheltered under CMA offer when that happen,

The CMA offer 1.30 more or less isthere if no counter bid pop, so baseline for NOL if u invest now is 6% profit if u can hold till it become unconditional. IT might not be that long as indicated in the circulars, they put 6 months just for buffer normally it only need 3 months. |

One day it will definitely recover, just a matter of time. In fact, CMA made a  splendid decision to take over NOL now although the industry is gloomy now. But when it recovers in near future, they will have the last laugh. They are a group of genius people running the company unlike..... |

shipping is hardly recover, boom has been past but the industry still flooded with extra capacity. It is terrible to see a 15-20% order book with shipyards and previous order book are partially digested by low streaming due to high oil price, now oil price is low, shipping time back to normal, even make the market more congested, even though shipping volume still growing but can it grow 30% in next 5 years, seriously doubt so. Like what you said, previous shipping boom is mainly due to the huge different of production cost between china and europe and us, it move the the production out from europe, japan, and US to china, then raw material export to china boom the bulk carrier and tankers, product out from china to developed country boom the container shipping. But now, euro and yen are much lower, sign show that US import and export shipping improve which is understood since USD is higher, the different boost the import and export again, market is moving to more neutralised and individual country want to reserve the manufacturing industry within the country to create jobs and manipulate the currencies. China is also no more cheap in the past.  Although this is no showing any slow down in import and export but definitely the growth has been suppressed to single digit growth which compared the double digit growth in shipping capacity, this is going to be a nightmare and this night mare just continue and continue. Market need to be consolidated and try to remove the competition, otherwise, situation will just get worst and worst.

that was healthcare and this is shipping.   the nature of the business is vastly different and NOL been looking for exit for a longtime and not easy for someone to swallow until now.   to find another is highly unlikely
