It needs to return to some profitability before KC shareholders even consider to take it onboard as a subsidiary. Another way is to carve out Keppel O/M and merge with SMM. But how? I do not even know how to value KC O/M. Beats me... ...

This ' merger' has to be thought through very carefully to be fair to both SMM and Keppel shareholders. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	From the point of view of a KC shareholder, I think that it would have been better if SMM had just been absorbed into KC thru an acquisition two months back instead of being allowed to stand alone and then acquired by KC later. Again, I would not have voted for such a merger had it been considered. And I would not want to now acquire SMM even after their capital injection. The pandemic is likely to be a prolonged affair and lean and focused companies will do sell to survive and thrive.w It is not good or even stupid to compete among or between their own OG companies for similiar jobs. The real competition is outside Singapore against the likes of the Korean and Chinese yards etc.. Imo, Merging the 2 will have costs savings for their OG biz and also strenghten the talents and capability for the new merged company to fight the competition and win jobs. Besides,  Keppel will also be able to focus on their other core biz.. like SCI. Doing something now will be more platable to SH unlike 18 yrs back... Just feel that the time is right and probably near.
