Only slight premium. APLL would have been for given away for free essentially. Sale of APLL prop up NAV only for eventual sale of NOL. So how can be sale below NAV. CGM - investor yildrim holds convertible bonds for 20% who is wanting to divest. CGM looking for buyer. Temasek could pick up the bonds as exchange. Bonds worth 600mil sold in a time where CGM was desperate. Whats 20% of CGM worth now? Whatever it is, CGM can do a swap. Fun fact - google cma cgm. Sg office is just few floors down of NOL. Vertical integration... geddit? Lol... sry lousy pun. Personal thinking is that NOL will sell above NAV and Temasek taking up a stake in CGM.

In SGX there are a few long time listed companies that understate their balance mostly property counters. Bank stocks attractive now since P/E only like 9X and dividend 4% but could go down further due to bad NFL from US rate hike so hold off ur amo till rate hike is finally raise and market stabilise. At present no incentive to go into market since it look like SGX would sink below 2800 for this year due to low growth in 2016 and 2017. So take caution and open ur eye big big, check companies debt level before going in.

With inflation, property prices (those land that the ports sit on) are definitely worth much more today. How much more.....I don't know. Only the professional valuers know how to calculate, but local inflation index should be one of the parameters. I guess this is the basis that TH negotiate a higher price than NAV and asked CMA to check on. Its not only NOL, some property developers on SGX also adopt this type of conservative accounting standard for land that they bought decades ago. APLL posed to sell off at US$600M by a lot of analysts and forum bros during that time based off NOL balance sheet but in the end it got double the bid price same go for NOL building which got $380M instead of $180M projected by most analysts. THe big problem with NOL is that they hide away asset  real value and using 25 years ago valuation to put in balance sheet. In 2004 Temasek tried to con retail investors to let go off their holding to privatise NOL and priced the whole group value at S$2.80 per share on 1.9B outstanding shares that work out to be US$4B for the whole group, they fail and shortist pay the price ship shoot to 5.50.  this time round according to CIMB leak Temasek asking bid is US$4B for their 67% NOL stake and that work out to be US$6B for the whole group. The actual value of NOL thus speculated to be much higher than what is being reported on balance sheet due to deflated asset value. It is not wrong to deflate asset but when company is up for sale, the asset should be revalued to reflect true value that why TH bid in CIMB is US$4B which i believe TH must had did a internal revaluation of asset before coming out with the asking price. Now CMA is doing it due diligence to counter check TH asking price, since NOL top in transparency in the commerce industry more or less TH bid price is reliable. In July, there were talks about possible sale of NOL...but Temasek didn' t sell.  Apparently Temasek is not desperate to just sell off NOL.  NOL represents a strategic preposition for shipping lines, ie intrinsic value.  That said, NOL is a loss-making entity but then again, it has been a horrible year for all shipping entities. CMA CGM is apparently very very keen on getting NOL, hence the exclusivity talks.  I believe a price has already been done we' re just pending CMA CGM' s funds.  As for the article about CMA CGM doubling its debt by acquiring NOL, I have two things to say abou that.  Firstly, every business is run on debt/leverage.  Even the chicken rice stall you see at the kopitiam.  Secondly, yes, NOL is one big black hole at the moment.  So are all the shipping entities.  But no sane businessmen will take over another entity in the same industry when it is at its high.  You acquire those who are unable to withstand the low points because at that price, you get a discount.     Expectation of the price to push to $1.50 is not impossible, is not implausible, but unlikely.  Target price of $1.35 makes more sense. My two cents.
