I was looking at my portfolio and realised I have sizeable enough unrealised profits from my small amount of shares in Wilmar.   However, when I looked at its chart.   Realised it is in golden cross, kindof over-bought due to the up-trend but was supported by stable amount of trading volume.   It seems that prices will continue on the up-swing.     |

Sugar crop in Thailand affected by worst drought in 20 yrs.  Watch that cuppa ... Kopi-O kosong, please ..... Drought hits Thai sugar, next year' s crop dying On the palm oil front, Malaysian palm oil down for second day - 0.9% to RM 2721 due to " ringgit issue" according to the Star.  RM up 1% vs USD.  Anyway, Malaysian palm oil export up nearly  25% m/m in Mar 16. But of course Feb was shorter  n there was the CNY effect too.  Still palm oil shd remain bullish due to EN-impacted supply issues.  DYODD though.  |

Repeat : high chance likely M & A candidate  But fo its size , only China funds have the appetite to do so. Another possibility is Wilmar eating others to grow bigger and Bigger And BIGGER.

CPO px continues its climb.  Maybe gonna break 2.8k RM by this wkend (CPO still up,  (view latest MPOC chart).  But sugar a bit down since hitting recent high.  So, perhaps not to worry abt KPO kosong for the time being.  But Wilmar shd continue to be well supported.  DYODD though.

Talking about China funds going into shopping spree mood, I think Wilmar has a very very high chance as a takeover target.  Palm oil plantations ...biggest producer ? If so, very very very very very very very high chance . |

Some estimates even put it at drop of up to 3 mil MT.  So, CPO px is well supported n agri stocks are likely to remain  bullish for the next few mths.  If China demand picks up, there' s likely to be an even great  squeeze on  CPO px which cld signal even greater support for agri stocks.  DYODD though.

Malaysia' s palm production to worsen on El Nino, Mistry saysBy  Bloomberg  / Bloomberg   | March 28, 2016 : 3:26 PM MYT     KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): Malaysia&rsquo s palm oil production will slump more than previously forecast, as the lingering effects of El Nino curb output in the world&rsquo s second-biggest producer, according to Godrej International Ltd&rsquo s Dorab Mistry. Production will drop by 2 million metric tons in the year through September, Mistry said in remarks prepared for a conference on Monday in Beijing. That compares with a 1.5 million ton decline predicted earlier this month. Malaysian output will be &ldquo well below&rdquo 19 million tons this calendar year, while it will total 31 million tons in top grower Indonesia, he said. Palm oil, used in everything from biscuits to lipstick and biofuel, surged to a two-year high this month as the strongest El Nino in two decades hindered growth of fresh fruit bunches in Indonesia and Malaysia, which make up around 86% of world supply. Mistry maintained a forecast for prices to climb to 3,000 ringgit (US$744) a ton. Futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives traded at 2,752 ringgit by the midday break, up 11% this year. &ldquo This El Nino is doing what all big El Ninos do &mdash lowering production and boosting prices,&rdquo said Mistry, who&rsquo s traded palm oil for more than three decades. &ldquo I shall not be surprised if the deficit for first half 2016 as compared with first half 2015 will be in excess of 1 million tons.&rdquo Falling Stockpiles Malaysian palm oil stockpiles fell to an eight-month low of 2.17 million tons in February, according to Malaysian Palm Oil Board data. Production slumped to the lowest level since February 2007, the data show. Inventories may drop to 1.5 million tons toward the end of the second quarter, Alan Lim, an analyst at MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd, said in a March 25 report. &ldquo World stocks will be drawn down dramatically,&rdquo Mistry said, raising his forecast for the gap in incremental supply and demand in 2015-16 to almost a record 4.3 million tons, from almost 4.2 million tons forecast earlier this month. &ldquo We are already seeing this happen in palm oil in Malaysia and will see this soon happen in Indonesia. Stocks in consuming countries like India and China will also thin down.&rdquo Indonesia&rsquo s biodiesel program is &ldquo working well&rdquo , with about 200,000 tons of biodiesel being produced from palm each month, Mistry said. Indonesian palm oil exports were forecastto fall to a one-year low of 1.95 million tons in February, as the world&rsquo s largest palm grower used more of the commodity in biodiesel. Soybean oil will continue to take market share from sunflower oil and to some extent palm oil, especially if palm prices narrow their discount to soy, Mistry said. Soybean oil&rsquo s premium over palm was around US$61 a ton, from an average of US$104 over the past year, according to data compiled by  Bloomberg. |

El Nino seen cutting Malaysia palm oil output by 2 mln T in oil year 2015/16By  Reuters  / Reuters   | March 28, 2016 : 10:06 AM MYT      KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): Palm oil output in Malaysia, the world' s second-largest producer, is estimated to fall by 2 million tonnes from a year earlier in the oil year ending September 2016 due to the effects of El Nino, leading industry analyst Dorab Mistry said. The decline in production, its sharpest in at least seven years, could bring stronger rallies to benchmark palm oil prices , which have risen 5 percent in the last two weeks to a two-year high of 2,726 ringgit ($676) a tonne on Friday. For the first half of calendar year 2016, Malaysian output is expected to decline by a million tonnes, Mistry added at the Thirteenth International Oils & Oilseeds Conference in Beijing. Production for the first two months of the year is running more than 100,000 tonnes less than the corresponding period a year ago, Mistry said, and the deficit is expected to expand to at least 350,000 tonnes by the end of March. " I shall not be surprised if the deficit for first half 2016, as compared with first half 2015, will be in excess of 1 million tonnes," he said. " From July we can expect some recovery in Malaysia. However, we have had severe dry weather in Sabah since the second half of January and that is likely to continue until the first half of April. Sabah palm oil production will suffer an extended impact around September 2016." Mistry, a Singapore-based director with Indian consumer goods company Godrej International, last forecast Malaysian output to drop 1.5 million tonnes to 18.4 million tonnes due to the El Nino. An El Nino weather event brings scorching heat across Southeast Asia, affecting the oil palm' s fresh fruit yields and lowering output in Malaysia and Indonesia, which produce about 90 percent of global palm oil. Mistry maintained his estimate for Indonesian palm production to fall by 1.2 million tonnes and that palm prices will reach 3,000 ringgit this year. " Palm oil futures on Bursa Malaysia have already risen to 2,700 (ringgit). I believe we shall touch 3,000 ringgit before long." Indonesian output is forecast to fall in February to 2.3 million tonnes from 2.44 million tonnes a month earlier due to drought and forest fires, its lowest levels in a year. Its annual palm oil output is expected to fall to 32.1 million tonnes this year, the first decline since 1998, said the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI).
