COVID-19 situation in Paris area extremely tense: French PM
The COVID-19 situation in the Paris region is extremely tense and authorities are ready to take new measures, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Friday (Mar 4), but he did not announce a tightening of curfew or new regional lockdowns.
Despite rising COVID-19 cases, the administration of President Emmanuel Macron has not to date declared a new national lockdown, opting instead to tighten measures locally in hard-hit towns like Nice and Dunkirk, but Paris has been spared so far.
" I call on everyone, and especially those who live in the capital, to be extremely careful, wear the mask and respect social distancing. The aim is to reduce the pressure on the hospital system," Castex said during a visit to a hospital.
The number of people with COVID-19 in intensive care units on Friday exceeded 4,000 for the first time since Nov.26, with nearly 1,100 COVID-19 patients in ICUs in the Paris region alone.

3. Australia
Australia records first local COVID-19 case in 2 weeks
Australia on Saturday (Mar 13) recorded first local COVID-19 case in more than two weeks after a doctor tested positive for the coronavirus, triggering restrictions in area hospitals.
Queensland state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the unnamed doctor last week treated two patients who had recently returned to Australia and had tested positive for the UK variant.

The Italian government is expected to announce tougher nationwide Covid restrictions by the weekend amid concern about a rising infection rate and the spread of new variants. Further restrictions expected to be announced by the government could include an earlier curfew or weekend lockdowns, as well as tighter restrictions over the Easter period. The government has this week been looking at bringing in enhanced measures after weeks of rising numbers in most parts of the country. Further restrictions look inevitable as many regions reported a higher Rt number (which shows the contagion rate) this week, and the health ministry reported a sharp rise of 25,000 new cases nationwide within 24 hours on Thursday. Hospitals and intensive care units are now under pressure in most Italian regions, reported Italy&rsquo s evidence-based medicine foundation GIMBE on Thursday. The trend of the contagion curve shows the start of the third wave, GIMBE head Nino Cartabellotta told Rai News. The government is expected to make an announcement by Friday, and new rules could come into force as soon as this weekend according to Italian media reports. Active cases have dropped since Feb but still very high at 21.7m cases compared with last Nov and Dec 2020 which were about 14.5m and 18.3m cases respectively. From worldometers charts, many European countries such as France, Italy, Germany, Poland are expriencing 3rd wave spikes in new and active cases. We are really not out of the woods yet although vaccine has brought hope of normalcy. Glove and PPE are still in huge demands as presented by many companies in their results reported recently. Check them out.

For anyone who missed the MKE session with Medtecs CEO Yang: https://links.sgx.com/FileOpen/Medtecs%20-%20Corporate%20Presentation_March_2021.ashx?App=Announcement& FileID=651685 at long last, they finally posted their corporate presentation that was held during the MKE session. My only complaint is the timing this is done. Quite a bad timing just like how the announcement of the financial results was done 1h 30 mins before the market opened. This should have been done TOGETHER with their financial year-end announcement instead of 10 days later. |

Not many want to buy at 95.5 and keep in freezer even tho there is a div of 5.6 coming on their way to the freezer. On the other hand, not many want to sell at 94.5 to forgo their div. So stalemate. How boring, unless someone like PL from Thomson come in to excite.
