Borrowed stocks are not counted as shorts.   Some people with borrowed stocks might still tick the sell-short button, but when the final day (T+2) the SGX will know if the positions are short sale or not. I think the published short sale figures are not the net shorted numbers until the records at SGX are balanced, so I think the figures are only accurate one day before the buying in day..

Of course, got those borrow scripts ones they have to cover but no hurry. We don' t have these statstics of how many there are.

Yes, that' s right. This info is really useless. But it can tell you why the mkt players are bearish so they shorted. Once short sell orders dropped to minimal, it may signal that the stock had bottomed.

These is the trading company security reports to SGX daily short sell oder .

so sgx will buy back for them . they can' t do any thing , because is mark at short sell oder.

If you have borrowed the security, you should still mark your sell order as a Short Sell Order.  An investor is deemed not to own the security if he has borrowed the security to be delivered on or before the settlement of the sale of the security [pursuant to Rule 8A.2.1(a)].

 

From the FAQ section ...interesting... so there may or may not be a buy in .

Looking at the market sentiments, the sea of red for the 3rd straight week running, I am starting to loss confidence in our own turf, SG market.

My current exposure here is very very minimum on just a few counters, with Yuuzoo the most, but still only a fraction, or about 25% of the whole lot I disposed yesterday on the high.

Needed clearer pictures from our broader market before taking in more positions.

4.6m short sell ytd.... think mostly covered liao. No sane person would want to leave it open overnight.
