Whatever is the news .....SM has taken a huge provision and lost for Sete . What if they didnt bankrupt and do have some rigs delivered later on or ptherwise ....then this huge provision suddenly become a big plus for both SM and SC......personally SC untility doing very well too. Can see many speculating on them |

Just play along lah if u believe what the loca paper reported (abt two wks ago, I think). Based on track record, once local mainstream media reports on something, it usually unfolds eventually - sometimes quite fast, sometimes a fair bit of time later. But I still remember an incident yrs back when the mainstream local paper kena plugged n were taken to task. So, not 100% accurate either .... hence dyodd as always.

Now it SMM turn to consistently make impairment provision every quarter losing 500mil every quarter not so funny lol. Better off privatise it and hide losses from public eye. Oil at 30+ for long time till china done with economy transition. Deep sea drill u need 60 to break even so it bye bye offshore sector even shale oil getting crushed with break at 40 |

Actually, very few people think through these things. But u' ve hit on a very pertinent pt. Prudence demands that provisions be made for such items. But my sense is, ultimately, the customer will have to come to an amicable settlement in which some payment will be made n some writebacks done. Very few, I expect, will share my view on this. I owe money. I don' t pay. Never mind if SMM don' t want to help me. I can look for Vard, say. So easy meh? If I don' t pay what I owe u, will ur brother or sister lend me money in future? Wld Vard accept work from people who they know are in high risk n chau kuan? What wld u do if u were a shareholder of Vard?
