I do not agree with you on this. To me,    this forum is for people to share information so as to make a more informed investment decision. You may be using it to up or down the values of shares  but  it is rather childish to assume that the other bros think the same way as you do.

The sentence [However, I am encouraging the bros here to invest in Midas as it has its own set of problems albeit different from that of NOL.] begins with the word HOWEVER. It  does not take an English expert to know that it is a typo. It should read [However, I am NOT encouraging the bros here to invest in Midas as it has its own set of problems albeit different from that of NOL.] You may be too defensive and protective of NOL to see the typo.

What you typed not what you said in your mouth :
"Indeed, one of the reasons for my decision to sell NOL is that the market has presented me with more tools to make money in recent days. Midas is an example. However, I am encouraging the bros here to invest in Midas as it has its own set of problems albeit different from that of NOL."

You are dead wrong again. I have never asked any bros to sell NOL. It is a personal decision. Indeed, I wish to pick up  NOL if the opportunities  occur.  Although I have picked up some Midas, I do not advise any bros to but or sell MIdas as it has its own set of problems albeit different from those of NOL.

It will affect the market as a whole but your argument now is for people to sell NOL and buy into MIDAS because you switched and now giving reason why it is time to drop NOL because you sold out. Not very sincere recommendation and a bit patronizing when you kept addressing fellow bros and veteran but also calling anyone with differing opinion as dead wrong, naive, unbelievable. It will be interesting if earlybird re-emerges as you 2 can call each bros lah.

Yes and that is good news to me too as I still have holdings in some stocks, some substantially more than my holdings in NOL. However, Putin' s remarks do not mark the end of the crisis as he is an extremely sly leader. How the crisis will unfold is anybody' s guess. However, given  the influence of Putin' s remarks on the markets, one needs to understand that  the geo-political risk is not something that  can be confined to Ukraine like what you suggested, as far as an investor is concerned. The impact of the Ukraine crisis on the markets can be very substantial. You need to think far beyond the events in the shipping industry.

U.S.stocks closed higher on Thursday at August highs despite subpar economic data around the world, and after conciliatory remarks from Russian President Vladimir Putin eased geopolitical concerns.

You are dead wrong to say the markets have not shared my concern. The following is the proof. Trading has largely been driven by uncertainty over the conflict between Russia and Ukraine of late, with many traders concerned about the potential fallout of any dramatic escalation. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/14/us-markets-stocks-idUSKBN0GE14J20140814 Equity futures and European stocks erased earlier losses after President Vladimir Putin said Russia will do everything it can to stop the conflict in eastern Ukraine. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-08-14/u-s-stock-index-futures-are-little-changed-amid-earnings.html Further, it is naive thinking the Ukraine crisis is likely to escalate into World War 3. You are a veteran trader and I am surprised by your lack of understanding of an economic world fighting with sanctions. As you said, the economic sanctions may temporary stall growth. Whether it will actually happen is one thing. The expectation that it may happen is sufficient to drive the markets lower. Will they be able to get around it by speeding up the decision to introduce more stimulus and QE to spur the Euro economy and asset purchase? Well, as you rightly pointed out, who knows. In any case, there will some time lag involved with the implementation of policies and this time interval could trigger uncertainty which could drive the markets lower. I remain optimistic about the future of NOL and not the present of NOL. You are more disappointed by the Q2 result than many of the bros here. That said, NOL has the potential to move higher, even in the short-term. However, I am less sure about the potential to move much higher, especially in the short-term. Will I rejoin NOL? Maybe. That will depend on many factors including geo-political factors, economic factors, the price of NOL relative to the prices of others stocks, etc. I am not  infatuated with NOL. To me, it is merely a tool to make money and  I have many tools. Indeed, one of the reasons for my decision to sell NOL is that the market has presented me with more tools to make money in recent days. Midas is an example.  However, I am encouraging the bros here to invest in Midas as  it has its own set of problems albeit different from that of NOL.

Counter, so far, Dow and European markets may not have shared your concern with how far the Ukraine battle can escalate into 3rd World War. The economic sanctions may have temporary impact to stall growth but they should be able to get around it and who knows, may speed up the decision to introduce more stimulus and QE to spur the Euro economy and asset purchase. Well, you may have sold out but if NOL decides to move ahead and you still remain very optimistic, you are welcome to rejoin the NOL ship to buy back even if at higher price so long as it still have the potential to move much higher, right ? )

It is a shame that there are still some people who think that a war can only be  fought with weapons. They don' t seem to have the slightest inkling of an economic war. |

The following is proof that the crisis in Ukraine does affect stock prices. For those bros who have only been analysing the shipping industry, it is time to start thinking about the wider geo-political factors. http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/08/14/us-markets-stocks-idUSKBN0GE14J20140814
