Anifah, who issued an open letter to the New York Times on Thursday night, said " it is irresponsible of any citizen, let alone a former prime minister, to spread lies and distortions about state owned companies" , referring to the government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). Here is Anifah' s statement. OPEN LETTER TO THE NEW YORK TIMES EDITOR 1. It is regrettable to see Tun Mahathir seeking to undermine his own country in the international media as part of a personal political vendetta. 2. It is irresponsible of any citizen, let alone a former prime minister, to spread lies and distortions about state owned companies &ndash saying for example that RM42 bn is missing from 1MDB to create public anxiety, when in fact these are audited debts backed by RM51 bn assets. Such reckless claims have affected market sentiment towards Malaysia. 3. He, Dr M it' s telling that he is continues to mount his attacks, rather than wait for the findings on enquiries currently being undertaken by M' sia&rsquo s central bank, Auditor General, and parliament&rsquo s bipartisan Public Accounts Committee. This shows - Tun Mahathir is not interested in answers from the appropriate lawful authorities. Rather, he is just using 1MDB as an excuse to topple the serving prime minister, Najib Tun Razak. 4. All b' cos of his personal demands. Dr M, himself has acknowledged, are not being met. Prime Minister Najib, the M' sia&rsquo s democratically elected leader, will do what he thinks is right for the nation, and will not allow rule by proxy. 5. Dr Mad told New York Times - Umno &ldquo lacks vision and talented people&rdquo , that it &ldquo has become a repository of patronage-seeking politicians&rdquo , and that members &ldquo try to keep out people who are more intelligent than themselves&rdquo .
Noted - When Dr Mad who led party UMMO for 22 years. It was he, during his time as premier, who worked so hard to cultivate &lsquo yes men&rsquo and entrench his position &ndash even introducing a quota system for the Umno presidency to prevent challengers &ndash rather than bringing in talent and strengthening the party. It is Prime Minister Najib who democratised the party constitution to make it far easier to challenge him for his job.&lrm 6. For Dr Mahati to accuse Prime Minister Najib of acts &ldquo verging on criminal&rdquo is simply outrageous, and entirely false. It is a measure of the reforms put in place under Prime Minister Najib&rsquo s administration that Tun Mahathir has the freedom to be so vocally critical of the party and government he once led.&lrm 7. But Dr Mahati is abusing his freedom, and his privileged standing as a former premier, to indulge in reckless and baseless personal smears against Prime Minister Najib and his family, just like on the first instant on how he personally bring down he chosen successor. Mr Abdullah Badawi. 8. Most Malaysians would rather see Dr Mad retire gracefully than continue to damage the standing of his own country for personal political gain and in the work to promote his son as next M' sia premier.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is said to have issued an ultimatum to his Cabinet, telling ministers to resign if they did not support him over the rehabilitation of debt-ridden state fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). Umno mouthpiece said, according to a source, none of the ministers declared he or she would not support the prime minister on 1MDB. Najib was said to have issued the ultimatum soon after Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah finished laying out the road map for 1MDB' s. " Najib told members of his Cabinet who were not with him on the 1MDB issue to resign, but not one person did so." Najib' s ultimatum followed, statement by Barisan Backbenchers Club chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad, who urged ministers, who did not agree with the collective decision of the Cabinet on 1MDB, to resign. Malaysia Airlines will not cut any of its domestic routes under the new restructuring plan meant to turn the loss-making national carrier around, the airline' s new chief executive officer (CEO) Christoph Mueller. The Edge Markets reported Mueller as saying there would be " no capacity reduction to our domestic network operated by MAS, Firefly and MASWings" , the latter two being its budget airline and rural air service. Mueller also said that the next two years would be a time for MAS to bite the bullet before the company could resume growth again. " 2016 to 2017 will be restructuring years & 2017 to 2018 will be where we will start to grow again," he was reported saying. Meanwhile. The Star Online reported that the new company will be organised into three divisions: operations, support functions, and learning and development. It will also have 12 subsidiaries. According to report, the ops div will consist of the passenger airline, MAS Wings, Firefly and MAS Kargo. The support functions division will take care of maintenance, repair and overhaul, ground handling, MAS Holiday and Enrich. Meanwhile, M' sia Airlines Academy, engineering training, flight training and operations training will come under the learning and development division. Mueller added that he expected MAS Bhd to break even by 2018 after the three-phase turnaround plan. &ndash June 1, 2015. Singapore Airlines Airbus loses power in-flight to both engines AFP News
4 hours ago A Singapore Airlines (SIA) Airbus plane carrying 194 people temporarily lost power to both engines on a recent flight to Shanghai, SIA confirmed Wednesday after a flight tracker said the plane had to descend 13,000 feet (3.96 kilometres) before normal operation was restored. The carrier said it was investigating the May 23 incident together with Airbus and engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce. "We are not able to provide further information but we can confirm that the same aircraft was used for the return flight," an airline spokesman told AFP. In a statement, SIA said the Airbus A330-300, carrying 182 passengers and 12 crew members, "encountered bad weather at 39,000 feet about three and a half hours after departure" from Singapore. "Both engines experienced a temporary loss of power and the pilots followed operational procedures to restore normal operation of the engines," it said. "The flight continued to Shanghai and touched down uneventfully at 10:56 p.m (1456 GMT) local time," it said. It added that the engines "were thoroughly inspected and tested upon arrival in Shanghai with no anomalies detected". In a Twitter post late Tuesday, industry portal Flightradar 24 said the flight, code named SQ836, "lost power on both engines & 13,000 feet before power returned". In a subsequent post, it said the plane "lost both engines during the cruise" while flying through a "huge storm", pinpointing an area in the South China Sea off China's southern coast where the incident occurred. SIA, Asia's third largest carrier by market value, currently has 29 Airbus A330-300s in its passenger fleet. It also has a fleet of 19 Airbus A380-800 super jumbos. The airline, along with its subsidiaries SilkAir, Scoot, and Tiger Airways, flies to 119 destinations across 35 countries. Last week Airbus warned of a technical bug potentially affecting the engines of its A400M military planes that was discovered during an internal test after one crashed in Spain. Greg Waldron, Asia managing editor at aviation information firm Flightglobal, said the incident was a "very unusual occurrence" that "highlights the requirements of rigorous pilot training." |
