x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	SPH shake-up: Khaw Boon Wan accepts &lsquo heavy responsibility&rsquo with &lsquo some anxiety&rsquo MAY 10, 2021 SINGAPORE &mdash Former transport minister Khaw Boon Wan, who has been designated as the chairman of a non-profit entity that will own the news media titles of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), said that he would be taking on the new role with &ldquo some anxiety&rdquo . On Monday (May 10), Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information, said that if the deal goes through, Mr Khaw, 68, will be appointed the chairman of the company limited by guarantee after discussions with SPH&rsquo s management shareholders.  In a statement after the announcement, Mr Khaw said: &ldquo It is a heavy responsibility. I accept it with some anxiety as I have no digital media experience. I will see how we can adapt relevant experiences from successful transformation elsewhere. &ldquo This assignment will disrupt my retirement. In the last one year, I have been blissfully content. But I cannot allow a Singapore institution to go into decline. &ldquo I will see how I can help unleash the talent and the passion in our newsrooms. If qoo10 is only at 10 percent of this SEA valuation, it is USD12billion, and SPH share would be USD600million?  Anyway, this is purely academic, but I do think that SPH has some crown jewels in its digital assets that have not been marked to market.  Of course, this assumes that qoo10 is listed in the US NASDAQ or China Shenzhen, and not in our local stock market joke of SGX. rocketman      ( Date: 10-May-2021 16:56) Posted: Shoppe and Lazada are 2 local competitors and Shoppe..They both gaining more market shares in my humble opinion.. Is this going to be almost near that of Shopee???  If so, what is the valuation of SEA currently that owns Shopee?  Any educated guess???
