But Swiber may offer us a clue as to why banks did not act against Ezra. If Swiber liquidated, bank have to immediately recognise their several hundred millions of exposure as bad debts. They will likely have to increase bad debt provisions for all loans made to other offshore industries. How will this affect their capital adequacy ratio and public confidence in them.

I stated in earlier posting.... it is good in fact to seek protection.... it is also not uncommon to adopt this route to ensure proper restructuring. For any white knight to come in, it is not unusual to have the company being ring fenced first..... Why Keppel? It is one of the creditors.... all of them should convert their debt to equity like many other companies did, give it a lifeline to turnarounds... sue it till ashes also can't get money back, for what? Anyway, macro seems better and there is ray of hope..... Well, issuance of such multitude will make LL to be way below 5% and be enslaved for his whole life? x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I don' t think the new subsidiary was for expansion, I have read it was required for the filing of the Chapter 11.   Can' t see why any white knight would take on with that level of debt, plenty of better bargains with better assets in the current market.   Not sure there is much value left in the EZRA Goodwill, despite what its shown as Goodwill in its balance sheet.   Maybe that needs to be relooked at.   Good luck to all invested.
