Conservatively, assuming the IPO unlocks about 50% of the value, so it is about 50 cents unlocked .   SCI is trading at way below its book value now or its PE is barely 10 times. If one were to assign a PE of just 10 (think regional utilities have higher PE 15 or higher), one can arrive at $2. SCI is a diversified player in terms of energy sectors (e.g. renewable, oil, gas, etc.) and emerging  countries with growing demand  (China, India, etc.). I feel that PE should be much closer to 15 or even higher, surely not at current PE level. Once SCI has shaken off the shadow of SCM, it should be on its own road to the moon/sun. From UOB KayHian Report -  Regional utilities peers trade at higher P/B multiples. We highlight that gas & thermal utilities peers in the region trade at a P/B of 1.0-2.3x, renewables peers trade at 1.3-4.7x P/B while water & waste treatment peers trade at 1.8-2.4x P/B. Unfortunately, the company does not disclose the book value of its various business segments in this manner and thus we are not able to undertake a comparable-company valuation. Nevertheless, with SCI trading at 2021 P/B of 0.5x, we are confident that the valuation gap to its peers will close in the next 6- 12 months.  Meaningful upside in the medium to long term, based on earnings multiples. Looking at SCI&rsquo s utilities comparables in the region, there appears to be meaningful valuation upside in excess of S$3.70 (excluding a holding company discount) if we were to use comparable PE multiples for its three business segments.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Jun 24, 2002 As part of its strategy of focusing on and growing its key businesses, SembCorp Industries Ltd (&ldquo SCI&rdquo ) announces today the proposed privatisation (the &ldquo Privatisation&rdquo ) of SembCorp Marine Ltd (&ldquo SCM&rdquo ) by way of a scheme of arrangement under Section 210 of the Companies Act, Chapter 50 (&ldquo Scheme&rdquo ).  In consideration, SCI will pay S$1.10 in cash for each SCM share transferred to it under the Scheme. The Privatisation will enable SCI to consolidate its position as the global leader in marine engineering. Mr Wong Kok Siew, Deputy Chairman and CEO of SCI said, &ldquo We believe that the proposed privatisation will be a &ldquo win-win&rdquo for shareholders of both SCI and SCM.  Full ownership will give SCI the financial and operational flexibility to consolidate our position as the global leader in marine engineering, expedite growth plans on a global basis and extract synergies by combining SCM with our existing offshore oil & gas unit, SMOE. This Privatisation is expected to be earnings accretive to SCI from Year One.  It will also increase focus on our key business which will be value enhancing for SCI shareholders.  At the same time, we are also offering SCM shareholders an opportunity to realise their investments at a premium to recent market prices and NTA. can happen again ?
