You are right in a way. That's why smm is trading way below its nav. I'm not surprised as it's losing money.
But TH did not pump in 2.1B. Effectively smm only raised 600m and no not all from TH. They got 1.5B debt written off, courtesy of sci sh.

Sorry , yes market cap 1.8 bil. The point is that Temasek injected 2.1bil. By right valuation should have increased by 2.1B. But market cap is only 1.8bil . Where did the missing valuation go ?

0.14 x 6 is 84c. So before rights issue the price is the same also. |

https://csimarket.com/Industry/Industry_Valuation.php?s=1200 PE ratio ranges from 14 to 27 Price to Book Value range from 1.3 to 1.6.... SCI is now trading at $1.32 or PE of only 9.6 & P/BV = 0.75 So there is a safety margin or potential upside of at least 100% based on simple comparsion. The PE and P/BV for renewable energies are even much higher!!! |
