When Ali run road.Taht is clear precuation investor should notice. The era of e-commerce boom with partial of the goods send through post has come to near end except those platform, the US, Indonesia ,Thailand and many more  implement restriction even on small parcel ecomerce goods have big impact. You see , Q10 which Ali have stakes has almost cease operation in Singapore and many countries, with exception of Tiktok , Lazada, Shopee which still running but mostly have their own  delivery platform ,SF, tie-up wih neigbourhood shop as collection point, Amazon , Ninja,J& T  Singapost is a sunset.

Yes, you may be right.   But that will mean Singpost will be repeating the same mistake as SPH, which ultimately led to SPH becoming non-viable as a commercial entity. SPH REIT shareholders made money, Temasek was made good by saving the property business.   But SPH shareholders got the short end of the stick.

Minority shareholders could not choose who to lead the company.  Madam Teo who has alot of REIT experience has been selected to lead. Singpost also paid for " independent evaluation" and the report has deemed properties as non core. Even if most of the minority shareholders feel that property disposal will reduce recurring income, the final outcome is usually beyond us. Just stating facts that who is hired and what was already deemed non core by    " independent evaluation" . And hey it is not that bad, Singpost can raise more cash, have a stake in the reit to earn partial recurring income and reit management fees.  Just the final piece of the puzzle...... with more and more cash..... could they purchase australia or UK' s student accomodation or worker' s dormitories? It is anyone' s guess. |

The purpose of a REIT is to raise capital and forfeit profit (that' s why REIT shareholders get 90% of profit).   Converting Singpost' s properties to REIT means depriving it of the profit that is keeping it afloat.

The current chairwoman  Teo Swee Lian has plenty of REIT experience.  SPH had properties to support its bottom line when media business is suffering. Maybe the model of Singpost is a cookie cutter one from previous listed entities linked to the government. Gathering properties and then forming a reit is quite a safe bet. Current market conditions also favor REIT listings. All new listings fully backed and subscribed. |

Properties once sold is gone, no more recurring income. But if they convert to rent(if all Singpost moving out from HDB shops), Singpost will have recurring income.

Basically, postal, logistic and Rental from Singpost building. E-commance hub with sorting facility which can be another form of business if they do have spare cap as well as small warehousing capability. Really depends on how SP wanna move from there with the 500m cash on hand. TBH, they can even turn into a small Logistic and commercial reit if they want to, buy aquiring  another 2-3 related property and combine with SP building. Anyway, all this are speculate, thing is, with so much money on hand, it is not can / cannot but how they want to transform SP into what kind of business, no rule say Sing " post" must do postal right? Just like property developer turning into reits. just say say nia, your money you decide.

Shortsell yesterday 9304.1k total vol traded 17684.9k Average short sell px 0.462 shortsell percentage 52.6% 1) There is naked short not covered 2) seller for 0.43 and 0.425 are shortist base on trade summary and average px reason for shorting I can think of 1) they expect Alibaba to sell, easy money 2) they expect retail to sell after breaking down the px of married deal which is key support for long retailer 3) T+5 for retailer / trader, almost everyday if retailer is not able to hold until a meaningful rebound / news (like DBS buying) 4) Total shortsell outstanding increase to 68.3m / 3% float (40m SGD), they need to lower it to aviod magin top-up / margin call In summary, shortist had manage to press the px lower day after day, but question is who is the buyer? 1) Retailer ? - really needs a lot of them to buy those extra units shorted, which is possible looking lot size few 5k to 200k 2) Fund ? - so far only DBS confirm, let see if more start to show interest in SP due to attractive px. - can be shortsell left / right but don' t think authorities is able to identify if involve multiple funds especially now we see retailer popping here to encourage shorting / selling, making money from shortselling fund and retailer. Overall singpost is still cash rich even if they are holding on to postal bady problem, which is the only reason fund / retail is shorting, logistic wise less worry, property is main piller supporting with rental collection. Cash on hand can 2 cents (4.6% yeild at current 0.43) per year for next 5 years if they don' t declear special div. For now px is dropping mainly due to overpower from shortselling vs retail absorbing, since many cliam that no fund will buy / hold SP, but do you think short position can be kept open for years?  As long as those who bought does not sell cheap, it means they will cover high, simple logic. Don' t think there will be much more negative news after Alibaba clears it holding, my estimate is they left less than 20m vs short outstanding 68m. Last Friday, during Fund adjustment to holding only 2m done, that' s the day when big fund do a one time adjustment to portforlio for long term or at least 3 months. Currently,will continue to hold till following occur / changes 1) Final decision on Singpost building from management - to sell / hold 2) decision on current cash pile - to issue special div or re-invest or cancel all debt with rest as working capital and depends on Singpost building rental to support div payout 3) result of the recent cost cutting changes like Cheers and Fedex  4) a full / reasonable view of SP financial after cutting the non core asset, right now all are guessing just sharing, my advise is if cannot hold don' t long, go short so that you forced yourself to cover position same day, which risk is low as one good news after trading hours will send the px jumping, as px is near 2.5-5% yeild, depends on your div projustion / guessing. dyodd

I have seen the last few weeks there were much activities on Singpost. Today, I seen that there were more sellers than buyers. What is the problem with Singpost? Is there no prospect of Singpost as the shorties are shooting down the price? Will the price drops to 40 cents level if there is no buyer support?
