To truly unlock the full value of Sembcorp Industries share price, the management must continue its effort in recycle capital through its energy and urban assets. And one of the major catalysts for Sembcorp Industries share price is the listing of the India business unit,  Sembcorp Energy India Ltd (SEIL).


According to a report written by Phillip Capital written on 9 September 2020, the estimated value of the listing is worth a staggering  $1.8 billion. However, given the current climate, the IPO value should be at most $1.5 billion. With such tremendous catalyst, Sembcorp Industries share price could potentially hit $3.00.

According to the SEIL recent annual report, the total assets amounted to INR 268 billion while total liabilities amounted to INR 168 billion. Thus, the book value for SEIL is INR 100 billion, which translated to Singapore dollars, amounted to  $1.8 billion.  Based on the current climate, if Sembcorp does list SEIL, I applied discounted valuation of 45% and derived the book value of $1 billion

To revive Sembcorp Industries share price, I think the next move by the management should be the blockbuster IPO of its asset, SEIL. The fact that the Group increased its stake in SEIL to 100% means that the management is ready to take SCI to next level .

 Alert Admin 		That $3 TP from Philips is based on pre-demerger of SMM.

Given the current climate, when you just value SCI at full 1.0x PB, its nearing $1.84 - Fair value. If they can start to give reasonable dividend - 4-5%, likely it will be able to go pass $2. I wont want to shout $3 for the sake of making myself happy. -> long way to go

Sembcorp Industries is pleased to announce its leadership succession. Neil McGregor, who will turn 65 this year, will be retiring as Group President & CEO on June 30, 2020. He will be succeeded by Wong Kim Yin, 50, with effect from July 1, 2020. Mr McGregor will remain as advisor until December 31, 2020.

Mr Wong is currently Group CEO of Singapore Power, a leading energy utilities company in Asia Pacific. Mr Wong has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector and in investment management. Formerly Senior Managing Director, Investments at Temasek International, he was responsible for investments in various sectors, including the energy, transportation and industrial clusters. Prior to Temasek, he worked for The AES Corporation, a power company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr Wong is also the Chairman of SkillsFuture Singapore, a government agency under the Singapore Ministry of Education.
