This includes the recognition of S$1.18bn fair value loss in 2H20F due to lower price of SMM shares (S$0.182) vs. the theoretical ex-rights price of S$0.308. Our &lsquo new-entity&rsquo NAV per share stands at S$1.77 for FY20F and S$1.95 for FY21F. Net gearing rises to 1.97x for FY20F due to a lower equity base.  --- We think clearer communication to be a &lsquo more focused&rsquo group could restore investor confidence while restructuring is a medium-term catalyst. I never said anything about the future of SCI(business growth and contracts awarded, etc) being tied to it getting kicked off STI. You can read all my comments on this thread counter, and not just latest comment. >_> I am quite bullish on SCI, just that now i'm putting the capital into KC. I am holding my SCI shares for more future profits and potential dividends for the FY. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Dear Mr Tang, I leave you with the answer for you to analyse more carefully. The price of SCI has largely moved in tandem with the direction of its return on equity. Like in many other stocks, a high and increasing return of equity usually implies a good, solid company, and therefore the market is quick to price in its value. Its price to earnings will usually be high also (unless it is in a recession) to reflect market expectations that this solid company will also grow at that high rate reflected in its P/E ratio. In the last six years, SCI' s return on equity has been relatively poor compared to other companies on the SGX (compare with DBS, SGX, etc.). Its P/E is unusual as you have well-noted. How, like you, I wished its P/E ratio could return to more ' normal' levels of 12-18X. But, SCI' s low level of P/E may now be the new normal for quite awhile unless there are some new and unexpected developments. Respectfully yours, St. Maximus. This key statistic is: What is SCI' s ROE - Return on equity?.  SCI' s price has largely been closely associated with this key statistic, and not P/E ratio. Surprise? But no surprises. I have already told you so.

The prospect of a company rarely depends on its ' STI' status. But mainly on its management and some may say, being at the right place and the right time.
