The stock price of Ezra Holdings Limited will probably remain subdued for quite sometime (at least 1 year imho). Their offshore support and production services division is experiencing challenges due to the global oil and gas industry not doing well. From their lastest FY2016 half-yearly financial report, they suffered an earnings loss as compared to previous FY2015 half-yearly results which still had positive earnings. Also over this same period, their gross profits has decreased by 70% from US$51 million to US$15.5 million and gross profit margin decreased from 20% to 6%. Their net debt to equity ratio has increased from 0.8X to 1.1X over this same period which the company explained it is due to working capital needs. There are some current developments such as order wins for its Marine Services division and the 50:50 JV with Chiyoda Corp. The global oil and gas industry is still not doing well. Unless there is a sustained recovery of oil prices, then there can be recovery in businesses for many of our oil and gas and related companies including Ezra Holdings. Currently, it is the survival of the fittest to see who can outlast this current onslaught in the global oil and gas industry. Those oil and gas and related companies with a stronger balance sheet which are able to manage their working capital needs and debts repayments stand a better chance to weather through these current challenges in the global oil and gas industry. The longer this winter in the global oil and gas industry, the more it will test which are the truly strong companies that are resilient enough to tide through these challenges.
