The government and Temasek has unlimited bullets to save the aviation sector including SIA. Not enough money from reserves, just issue new bonds. Many funds and retail will buy because of its solid credit rating.

SIA needs to cut excess pilots and cabin crew and sell planes. This is to survive. SG taxpayer cannot support them forever. Else all will need severe pay cuts including Management. I am sure all of us would face up to this in our own industry sectors.
SIA should not be an iron rice bowl. Not when the pilots and cabin crew have been over paid for so many long years. |

Probably the joker in the pack is the new aircraft purchases. Dunno how many they want to buy, suffice to say that the pre existing orders are quite huge. Think they already tolong tolong (beg) Boeing and Airbus to postpone delivery but dunno how successful they will be.

Last news reports, their CEO says that cash bleed is approx $300M each month.

So maybe their $5.15B in spare cash, can last more than 1 year, on the proviso that they don' t pay aircraft installments, but this is very unlikely since probably need to pay periodic installments, cannot be pay one lump sum upon delivery, what happens if airline goes bust or declare bankrupt, the what will Airbus or Boeing do with the half built aircraft?

So maybe they will still need to recruit the $6.2B in MCB, maybe draw less at $3.1B if can find cheaper funding from bonds.

Or maybe Temasek allow the MCB drawdown to be extended by 1 year, since having that back stop seems to be allowing SIA to borrow $$$ at quite a cheap rate.

Too much " noises" on this counter... Lolxx.. DYODD. Mid to Long Term Investor will pat on their own shoulders when the counter fly...  Singapore progesses in the early days is largely due to Singapore Airline and Changi Airport. It remains relevant even in today context.  Singapore has lots to lose if they lose Singapore Airline. Singapore Govt will save it at all cost which might include privatisation. Lolxx.    |

Understand that there are some countries where it is a Stay Home Advisory and not Notice. My Japanese friend says this is the case in Japan.  So, it may not be as great an impediment as thought.  More key is the opening of more travel bubbles and green lanes. This can be a good surprise, once announced. SO, there are many good news that are to be annouced in the next few months. The worst and darkest days are behind.
