no doubt that 5G will need more capex. but with 5G those 4g only will be obsolete. so new comer hoping to get a slice of the market may be jit to see a technology change and got their investment wipe out. |

There is no such thing as a free lunch. The entry of TGP and MyRepublic is overhyped. Offers and price discounts like trade tariffs will only be matched by incumbents. Nobody gains and can only spiral downwards. How deep are their pockets only time will tell.SingTel with its regional strategy and deep pockets will likely end up mopping up market shares as the smaller telcos eventually accepts SG market is over saturated and the folly of discounts and low pricing to get market share at the expense of profit. | ||||

I don?t know how you conclude such. Pls refer to the last sentence in the very article you quoted.
5G will clearly be superior to 4G in every way ? and by a wide margin. However, full nationwide coverage is years, potentially decades, away. Operators are still investing to improve 4G coverage five years after the first services became available, and 5G is going to require a level of investment that could make 4G deployment seem cheap in comparison.

please read https://5g.co.uk/guides/4g-versus-5g-what-will-the-next-generation-bring/ on 5G deployment. Deployment of cell technology for short distances might not be as expensive as bidding for more bandwidth at astronical costs. So to say that 5G needs high Capex is not entirely true as 5G is built on top of 4G.
