STi did it again & again. The No.1 liao-sai exchange of the world. All the Asia-Pac indices either up or down slightly, STi flung nearly 1%.
No wonder the Business Times say this because the whole world is bypassing SG stocks or dumped them till cheap cheap, so dividend yield naturally become best.... "AS at Monday's close, the Straits Times Index may be 13.7 per cent down for the year but according to the Singapore Exchange's investor education portal, the STI offers Asia's highest dividend yield at 4.2 per cent - way above Asia's average of 2.4 per cent." |

Oil prices down on diplomatic efforts to ease Middle East tensions November 25, 2015: 11:54 AM Oil prices fell in Asia on Wednesday as diplomats tried to ease geopolitical tensions sparked by Turkey' s shooting down of a Russian fighter jet on the Syrian border. Prices have surged on Tuesday following the incident which analysts warned could further heighten tensions among key powers involved in the Syrian conflict and affect crude supplies from the oil-producing Middle East. The rally was cut short amid a flurry of diplomatic effort to appease a furious Russian President Vladimir Putin who called the shooting a " stab in the back" by " accomplices of terrorists" . UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon called for urgent measures to cool down the heat, saying a " credible and thorough review" of the incident would help clarify what happened and prevent a repeat. The Russian SU-24 attack plane was shot down earlier Tuesday by two Turkish F-16s after it received 10 warnings within a five-minute period, Turkey' s envoy to the United Nations said, but Moscow insisted the aircraft was inside Syrian territory. At around 0215 GMT, US benchmark West Texas Intermediate for delivery in January was down 11 cents to US $ 42.76 ($ 60.59) and Brent crude for January was trading seven cents lower at US $ 46.05. Both contracts jumped by more than US $ 1 after the shooting. " Crude prices were bid up on fresh concerns over the Middle East tensions after Turkey shot down a Russian aircraft," said Bernard Aw, market strategist at IG Markets in Singapore. " However, it is unlikely that the tensions will escalate given the trade importance between the two countries, which means we should see a diplomatic solution," he told AFP. He said traders are setting their sights on a meeting on December 4 of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries for signs on whether the cartel will slash high production levels which have depressed prices in an oversupplied market. " An agreement to cut the production target will definitely be a booster for oil prices," Mr Aw said. Attention will also be on a report by the US Department of Energy later Wednesday on last week' s commercial crude stockpiles that will gauge demand in the world' s top oil consumer.   |

Noon Market STI slips 0.93% to 2,896.17 at midday November 25, 2015: 12:13 PM Singapore stocks declined at noon on Wednesday, amid mixed trading in other Asian markets. Geopolitical tensions were heightened after the downing of a warplane near Syria, leading to a standoff between Turkey and Russia. Meanwhile, Singapore' s gross domestic product rose 1.9% in the third quarter from a year earlier, buoyed by growth in services. This topped the median estimate of 1.4% in a Bloomberg poll. By 12.04 pm, the Straits Times Index shed 0.93% to 2,896.17. Market breadth was negative. Excluding warrants, decliners outnumber gainers 154 to 128. A total of 342.4 million shares worth $ 387.1 million changed hands, giving an average price of about $ 1.13 per share for the entire market. Neptune Orient Lines (Valuation: 0.90, Fundamental: 0.75), Spackman Entertainment Group (Valuation: N / A, Fundamental: N / A), Rowsley (Valuation: 0.30, Fundamental: 1.65), Alliance Mineral Assets, and Jumbo Group (Valuation : N / A, Fundamental: N / A) were among the most actively traded counters. Rowsley leapt 3.4% to 18.1 cents. The developer has entered into a joint venture with former Manchester United football stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs to redevelop Manchester' s historic Northern Stock Exchange building into a boutique hotel. Alliance Mineral Assets jumped 12.6% to 9.8 cents. The mineral resource company was on Monday queried by the Singapore Exchange over unusual trading activity in its shares. Spackman Entertainment Group continued its surge, adding 7.4% to 14.5 cents. This comes after mystery-drama movie, The Priests registered over 4.5 million in ticket admissions on the 19th day of its opening. Neptune Orient Lines rose 2.9% to $ 1.225. The container shipping company is in exclusive talks in relation to its acquisition with France' s CMA CGM SA. Highlight Singapore consumer confidence edges up in November but overall sentiment still weak: ANZ   November 25, 2015: 12:11 PM Consumer confidence has improved slightly in Singapore, a recent survey shows. The ANZ-Roy Morgan Singapore Consumer Confidence Index edged up to 125.2 points for November. This represents a 0.2 point mom increase and a 4.3 points yoy increase. " The narrow miss of a technical recession during the third quarter and a slight adjustment to monetary policy settings in October probably saw local households enter November with a slightly more optimistic disposition," ANZ chief economist for South Asia, Asean and Pacific Glenn Maguire says on Wednesday. Singapore' s economy avoided a technical recession in the third quarter when official figures released last month put growth at 0.1% compared with a quarter ago. In October, the Monetary Authority of Singapore said it will reduce the appreciation rate of the Singapore dollar, the second policy easing so far this year. Singapore households reckon that the outlook will remain cloudy, says Maguire. In terms of personal finances, 31% of respondents (up four percentage points mom) believe that their families are better off financially than they were a year ago, and 32% believe that their financial situation will improve over the next year. The survey also found that only 19% of respondents are willing to buy major household items at the moment /   |

China Focus China likely to invest over US $ 1 trillion overseas in next five years: Premier Li November 25, 2015: 11:56 AM China is likely to invest over US $ 1 trillion ($ 1.42 trillion) overseas and import more than US $ 10 trillion in commodities over the next five years, the state-backed China Daily quoted Premier Li Keqiang as saying. Speaking to heads of Central and Eastern European nations at a summit in Suzhou on Tuesday, Mr Li also said China could help provide more flexible funding conditions to those countries to upgrade their infrastructure, as long as they use Chinese equipment and products, according to the the state paper. Mr Li said China was on track to reach its economic growth target of about 7% this year, and the economy was undergoing adjustments to maintain reasonable medium-to-long-term growth. He also said China was exploring the possibility of establishing a multilateral financial institution with Central and Eastern European countries, as well as a joint fund that would be denominated in Chinese yuan. The summit, attended by leaders of 16 Central and Eastern European countries, is set to end on Wednesday.     |

Brokers Report Overweight on banks and S-REITs, says Daiwa with STI target of 3,265 for 2016 November 25, 2015: 11:11 AM Daiwa Capital Markets is maintaining its STI target of 3,265 for 2016 and recommends an overweight on the banking sector to capture further upside. Daiwa says the September earnings season was a forgettable one, with around 60% of the stocks in its coverage universe missing earnings forecasts. The misses were concentrated mainly in the oil & gas and small-cap consumer sector stocks it covers while positive surprises were seen mainly in the results of banks and REITs. In a Tuesday report led by analyst Ramakrishna Maruvada, asset quality of loan portfolios within the banking sector held up much better than market expectations. This should assuage investor worries over the fallout from the China slowdown and low commodity prices. Among the REITS, good control of operating expenses, driven by minor improvement in efficiencies in areas such as utilities, was a key highlight. ComfortDelgro was one of the few stocks that reported strong results, driven by margin improvement in its bus and taxi operations. On the other hand, revenue pressures were evident across telecom stocks, athough SingTel (Valuation: 1.30, Fundamental: 1.30) managed to do relatively better than its peers as it gained mobile revenue share. Offshore marine stocks continued to reel under operating-margin pressures, even as news of contract deferrals gathered steam. Within the small-cap space, consumer stocks with China exposure (OSIM and Breadtalk) disappointed as demand fell sharply. " Accordingly, we are removing Breadtalk from our small-caps picks list," says Maruvada. " We maintain our 2016E FSSTI index target of 3265, which now translates to a 1-year-forward PER of 12.2x, which is still at a discount of 7% to the past-15- year mean," he adds.   |

Singapore' s STI Falls in Line With Other Asian Markets 25 November 2015 10:40 A weak performance in other Asian markets early Wednesday gives direction to the FTSE Straits Times Index, which falls 0.8% to 2900.47. The loss is despite a lack of corporate news and a revision to third quarter GDP data that was surprisingly strong. Golden Agri-Resources (E5H.SG) leads gainers on the local stock market, up 1.4%, but the vast majority of large-caps lose ground, including Global Logistic Properties (MC0.SG) and Genting Singapore (G13.SG), down 1.9% and 1.3%, respectively.   |

Global Markets Oil jumps, bond prices inch up on global tensions November 25, 2015: 7:27 AM Oil prices jumped and government debt prices edged up on Tuesday as concern about global tensions rose after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border. US stocks erased early declines, ending slightly higher as energy shares rose with oil prices. The dollar fell against the traditionally safe-haven Japanese yen, helping to push gold up. Oil prices hit two-week highs, with Brent futures rising 2.9 percent to settle at $ 46.12 a barrel and US crude gaining 2.7 percent to settle at $ 42.87. Energy shares contributed the biggest lift to US stocks. The S & P energy index ended up 2.2 percent. " You came in this morning and everybody was talking about this potential escalation of violence between Turkey and Russia," said Andrew Frankel, co-president of Stuart Frankel & Co in New York. He added that investors settled down after it appeared that Russia' s response would not be as confrontational as they initially feared.    |

North and South American Indexes
![]()
Wall Street ends higher, driven by energy amid global tension US shares closed higher on Tuesday as energy stocks rose along with oil prices after Turkey shot down a Russian warplane near the Syrian border. The three major US indexes recovered from a morning selloff that was triggered by the overseas news despite some strong US economic data. Oil prices were up more than 2 percent after a spike in Middle East tensions. " You came in this morning and everybody was talking about this potential escalation of violence between Turkey and Russia," said Andrew Frankel, co-president of Stuart Frankel & Co in New York. He added that investors settled down after it appeared that Russia' s response would not be as confrontational as they initially feared. Relatively light trading appeared to exaggerate swings in the market, according to Frankel, as many market participants were away ahead of the US Thanksgiving holiday. Markets will be closed all day Thursday and close early Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 19.51 points, or 0.11 percent, to 17,812.19, the S & P 500 .SPX gained 2.55 points, or 0.12 percent, to 2,089.14 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC added 0.33 points, or 0.01 percent, to 5,102.81. Investors steered clear of many of Nasdaq' s higher-valuation stocks like Netflix (NFLX.O) and instead took safety in cheaper stocks due to geopolitical concerns, according to JJ Feldman, portfolio manager at Los Angeles-based Miracle Mile Advisors. " When you get that kind of thing people say they' re going to get out of the high-flyer expensive P / E stocks and into the flight-to-quality value stocks that have been beaten down," he said. Travel-related stocks fell after the US State Department issued a global travel alert for Americans. The Dow Jones Airlines index .DJUSAR ended down 2.7 percent, led by a 5-percent decline in Allegiant Travel (ALGT.O). United Continental (UAL .N), Delta Air Lines (DAL.N) and Spirit Airlines (SAVE.O) all fell around 3 percent. Six of the 10 major S & P sectors rose and energy .SPNY led with a 2.4-percent increase, followed by a 0.8 percent increase in materials .SPLRCM. Hewlett-Packard (HPQ.N) shares fell 3.4 percent in extended trading after the close when it reported a revenue decline for the fifth straight quarter, its last before it split into two companies. The US economy grew at a 2.1 percent pace in the third-quarter, compared with an earlier estimate of 1.5 percent, data showed, but consumer sentiment in November was the weakest since September 2014 ahead of the crucial holiday shopping season. Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by 1,893 to 1,162, for a 1.63-to-1 ratio on the upside on the Nasdaq, 1,659 issues rose and 1,121 fell for a 1.48-to-1 ratio favoring advancers. The S & P 500 posted 9 new 52-week highs and 8 new lows the Nasdaq recorded 63 new highs and 74 new lows. About 6.9 billion shares changed hands on US exchanges below the 7.2 billion average for the last 20 sessions, according to Reuters data.   |
