x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	SM or K O&M so called green energy projects are just giving hope to shareholders, in fact, those vessels or rigs used for erecting the wind turbine and laying subsea cables and subsea geography mapping are all can be covered by existing offshore construction vessels. Erection of wind turbine can be done by heavy lift vessels which almost all pipe laying vessels and heavy lift vessels are equipped with heavy lifting crane which are used for erecting shallow sea platforms. The jackup rigs can be converted to wind turbine installation rigs by removing the drilling system on it. In fact, a lot of retired jack up rigs are converted for such usage. Cable laying and subsea survey, all vessels already existing in market for offshore. Offshore activities reduced badly, thos offshore construction company already moved their business to offshore turbine installation and subsea cable laying and etc job with the same vessel fleets on hand. So, in fact, no much new vessels or rigs are required to build. In near future, especially the energy growth mainly in China will be using hydro power, nuclear power and natural gas power from Russia, Qatar and USA. They will use electric car more than petrol car in future, so the oil demand will not grow rapidly and shale oil and USA is sufficient to deal with near future usage. I had been samsung, hyundai shipyard before, their ship building yard is so big and ship steel Hull fabrication and assembly is a production flow line which make them can build world largest container vessels. None of singapore yard can compete with them at all. The only incident may make singapore rigs and shipbuilding resume is civil war happen in China and South Korea which mean China decide to unite Taiwan and North Korea decide to unite south Korea. Or else, no chance for singapore compete with this two shipbuilding market leader
